I have always loved creating things. Randomly putting things together and making something fun and useful has always been one of my best skills. It brings me even more joy to make things for other people to hold onto and love.
One of my favorite things to do and be creative is knitting. I love knitting. For the last year or so it has been one of my largest anxiety relievers. I find myself knitting constantly and always when I need something to keep my hands busy.
Some of the most sentimental gifts I’ve given have been items that I’ve knitted. In a scarf you can feel the love in each stitch. The amount of time it took to construct the entirety of the scarf shows that it wasn’t just a last minute buy. A handmade present really shows someone how much you care about them on the given occasion.
Even if you don’t have time to make something as elaborate as a scarf you can do smaller, more simple items such as:
- Knitting a headband for use during the winter months
- Knitting a small cup holder for a mason jar
- Knitting a skinny strip of yarn and sewing the ends together so it fits inside of a mug handle.
There are so many options when knitting something special. It's a great way to use your down time while still actively doing something. Knitting makes for a great use of spare time and it's a great creative outlet for those looking for something to fill the creative void.
