My favorite part of Halloween now that I am too old to Trick-or-Treat is watching Halloween movies. Now that it is getting colder out, there is nothing I love more than grabbing a blanket, some cider or hot chocolate, and curling up on the couch to just enjoy a good Halloween movie. I’ve made a list of 16 of my favorite (non-scary) movies I plan to watch before October is over.
1-4. Halloween Town (1, 2, High, and Return)
I watched all of these when I was still in elementary and middle school and if I can catch them on TV, it’s a good day. Old costume makeup and prosthesis, 90’s fashion mixed with witches dresses, these 4 movies are just feel good and non-scary.
5. Hocus Pocus
I can’t remember that last time I had the time to sit down and watch this Halloween staple. It is a halloween favorite and rightfully so, It is well written and highly entertaining.
6. Casper
I had this on VHS growing up and I just Love Casper. Though it has a cast of ghosts and we learn how Casper became our favorite friendly ghost, it is the farthest thing from scary (Hence the moniker of “Casper the Friendly Ghost”). 90’s acting and special effects make this a great movie to laugh at and laugh with.
7-14. Harry Potter series
This series need no introduction or explanation as to why we would watch them here in October. Magic, Muggles, and robes what more could you ask for.
15-16. Scary Godmother Halloween Spooktacular & The Revenge of Jimmy
Animated, Family friendly, and just plain goofy, I look forward to watching these two movies probably above all other Halloween movies. Mean cousins and Fairy Princesses getting the last laugh? Count me in!!!
