My Crochet Bucket List

I'm confident that I can achieve them with a little practice.

Without a doubt, I am very grateful for the Internet and my computer. Both of these resources allow me to store countless craft ideas without the nerve-wracking chance of misplacing them. During my free time over spring break, I started to learn how to crochet. Even though I am still relatively new to this hobby, as the title says, I decided to compile a list of things that I want to crochet in the near future. Some of these projects will be more difficult than others, but I'm confident that I can achieve them with a little practice. Here are a few of my favorite project ideas.

Coffee Mug Cozy

An adorable craft meets functionality. With the amount of late nights I spend studying because I am a college student, a hot cup of coffee is slowly becoming an absolute essential for daily life. And there is nothing worse than burning your fingertips while typing that five-page essay for class tomorrow.

Temperature Blanket

This project has stolen my heart ever since I first saw a picture of the idea on everyone's favorite website, Pinterest. To complete this blanket, you must crochet a new line of color based on the average temperature of each day of the year. It is a great way to reflect upon the year, while also creating something beautiful at the same time. I definitely need to hone my skills before tackling this craft.

Cat Butt Coasters

While I don't have a significant use for coasters, this project is definitely way too cute to pass up. If you have a special cat in your life, you can customize your cat butt coaster to resemble your furry friend. However, if you aren't a cat person, they can also be dog butt coasters. It's a huge win either way!

Pokémon Amigurumi

Even before learning how to crochet, I have always had my eyes fixed on these adorable crafts. The sheer number of these free patterns on the Internet makes the amount of possibilities endless. My sister has already taken advantage of this by making several different Pokémon, including Cyndaquil and Slowpoke.

Chicken Potholders

Once I start cooking for myself next year, these things will definitely come in handy. I am always paranoid that I am going to burn myself when I take food out of the oven. However, when you have potholders this cute, what could go wrong?

I know that I have a long way to go before attempting any of these crafty projects, but I think having a few goals in mind is a great way to start. In the mean time, I'll keep practicing with the hope that I'll start one of these soon. I'm so excited to see where this new hobby takes me!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
