Music plays a HUGE part in how I enjoy my summer. It’s my time to relax and unwind. So if I don’t have a playlist that encourages that, it could ruin my whole mood. So here are the songs that I’ll be using to unwind at the beach, during my hikes, or wherever else I can chill.
Chastity Belt – Seattle Party
I recently came across this song and it’s relaxed vibe, as well as the haunting vocals of lead singer, Julia Shapiro, had me hooked. It probably has a bit of a darker tone than most of the songs on this list but it’s a great song for the coming sunny days nonetheless.

Schoolboy Q – That Part
I’m a huge Schoolboy Q and Kanye West fan, so when I found out they were releasing a song together I knew it was going on my playlist for the next three months. Thankfully, they didn’t disappoint in the slightest. Schoolboy Q’s chill demeanor is a contrast to West’s arrogance that works well throughout the song.
Summer Salt – Driving to Hawaii
When a band’s name has summer in it, you know they’re songs are going to be perfect for when you’re relaxing with sand and ocean air in your hair. This song is the epitome of that with super light and calm vocals
Cousin Stizz – No Bells
Boston rapper Cousin Stizz is known for making minimal tracks that do just enough to allow you to vibe with. No Bells is exactly this. Stizz’ slow and calm flow on top of the bright instrumental makes for a great track for summer nights with friends.
Day Wave – Drag
Day Wave is the solo project of musician Jackson Philips, who has a knack for making synth heavy indie pop that is perfect for the carefree days that summer provides.
Pac Div – Slow
Honestly, Slow is a pretty meh track. The verses by Pac Div are pretty ordinary and don’t really strike me as unique in anyway. However, it earned a spot on this list because of the amazing instrumental. It’s so perfectly serene and glittery for any summer situation, and is worth at least a listen.
Major Lazer – Jessica
I’ve never really been a fan of reggae, but Diplo’s reggae/dancehall inspired project Major Lazer has opened my mind up a bit. Specifically, the track “Jessica” which features classic reggae influenced instrumentation, as well as delightful vocals from Ezra Koenig of Vampire Weekend.
