Why My Brother Is My Super Hero

Thanks for being my best friend, provider, protector, father figure and, most of all, my super hero.

Why My Brother Is My Super Hero
Lexy Davis

If you have a brother like mine, then you have the best friend you could ever ask for. My brother and I are like the best friends who don't have to talk every single day, but when we do talk it is like no time has ever passed between us. Not saying that me and my brother go months without talking because we don't. But, we don't always talk every single day. But, with all that being said, I just want to describe to you what's like when your brother is your best friend and your superhero.

He is your main protector. He is always there to look out for you. And no, I don't mean just looking out for you when you need someone to cover for you. I mean he is there to literally look over you and protect you. He is always down to ride somewhere with you and while riding with you, he is always on the lookout for suspicious activity. He never lets any harm come your way and he is always right behind you watching your back. He never lets anyone get out of line with you and if they do, he has a mouth full to say to them. Then you have to calm him down so he doesn't do something irrational.

He has shown you what a perfect man looks like. My brother has allowed me to see how a real man treats his wife and his family. He has given me the chance to see that I don't deserve anything but the best. And to be honest, he wouldn't even let me have anything but the best. He has shown me that a man is supposed to work hard for his family and that he is supposed to be the main provider of his family, so I would never expect anything less than that. My brother breaks his back to make sure that his wife and kids have a wonderful life and that they are provided for, so I would never marry a man who wouldn't do the same for me because that is not what I have been taught.

He provides for you. This is how your brother sort of plays a father role as well. My brother has always provided for me when I needed something. Whether that be school clothes, a new video game or simply just cash to go out. He is always helping me out when I am in need of assistance.

He listens to you. Whenever I am in distress and I need some fatherly advice, I always call my brother. He is always there when I need someone to talk and he offers the best "manly" advice that he can. Especially when it comes to boys. He can always tell me when I am with a guy who is not in it for the right reasons or who doesn't have my best interest at heart.

He is your best friend and you sort of father figure. This is one is more particular to me. Since our dad passed away when I was such a young age, my brother automatically became my father figure and my best friend. From offering fatherly advice like stated above to coming to daddy/daughter things with me (or anything that involved a dad to be there) to just riding around the town with me, my brother has allowed me to not only experience a great father figure but a great best friend.

My brother will always and forever be my superhero. I will never be able to thank him and or repay him for all he has done for me. From being my best friend since the day I was born to stepping in as my father figure when our father passed away. He will always and forever be my role model and my image of a perfect man. I love you to the moon and back, Ira Jr.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
