Throughout the years, I have heard a lot of arguments over Chipotle and Qdoba. Chipotle has been one of my favorite places to eat for many years and will be for many years to come. So which one is better?
Chipotle: When you walk into Chipotle, you notice everyone having a great time enjoying their delicious food. You get in line and start thinking about what you want to get. Burrito or bowl, usually. Chipotle has been known for their quality meats, superb guacamole, and not to forget, their tough tortillas. Everyone who gets everything in their burrito understands how the tortillas usually always holds together.
Chipotle takes away the competition with the overall quality of the food. Their meats are more flavorful and texturized. The staff is always nice and occasionally you get that one worker who hooks it up with the single serving of meat that is essentially a serving and a half. The environment is a great place to be in and offers quick, delicious meals during the regular hours of the day.
When it comes to sides, all are free at Chipotle except for the guacamole; however, if you do not get the guacamole, you are definitely missing out. The only downside is the price of their guacamole, around $1.90. Do not let the price fool you, I would say that it is worth it and you will regret it if you do not get it.
Qdoba: Though not as good as Chipotle in my opinion, Qdoba still has a decent ranking when it comes to food. Coming in handy during late nights when nothing else is open, Qdoba pulls through. With their new campaign of “extras aren’t extra,” customers are not charged for their guacamole anymore. However, their guacamole is nothing to take seriously due to the bland flavor and strange texture. Their tortillas are good, but obviously not as good as Chipotle’s because of the taste.
If you have to have beans in your meals, Qdoba is a better option on this aspect. Although I am a die-hard Chipotle fan, I will admit that the one thing that Qdoba has that Chipotle does not is queso. For the quality of the queso, I personally do not think that it is worth around $4 for a small-medium sized cup of queso and chips. Their chips are also nothing impressive. They are usually over-salted, however, you do get them bottomless. Late hours, bottomless, salty chips, queso, and free, bland guacamole are the best things that Qdoba has to offer.
All in all, I would prefer to pay a tad bit more for better-tasting food, unless of course it is later in the night and I have no other options. Chipotle has 3 times the number of stores and has more customers than Qdoba. I think that really shows the difference between the stores. Chipotle wins this one in my books, and apparently most of America’s. What’s your choice?
