Growing up, we had plenty of best friends. Of course, we are no longer friends with those people because everybody grows up and some friendships don't follow. However, it's been over ten years and you're still in my life. We met in sixth grade at a delicate age where we started at a new school and had no idea who we were. We were in different classes, but through mutual friends we became close. Since we were young, we had plenty of ups and downs, but you never left my side.
Throughout middle school, we got into fights on and off and we let the drama get in the middle of our friendship. But by the time we hit high school, we were closer than ever. We had each other's backs through it all. Through friend drama, boy drama, cheerleader drama, and of course the stress of school, we never let one another down. You and your family always welcomed me with open arms if I ever needed to get away and needed advice, and I cannot thank you guys enough for that.
We did everything together. We had classes together; I was your back-spot for the cheer-leading team; we went to our first prom side by side; we even had our first job together. During high school, we were inseparable. When we started college and I moved away, it was a different experience. I was no longer right down the road from you and we wouldn't even be working together anymore, and it was very scary for me. But you were and will always be there when I feel like the world is crumbling down and I just need to stay over.
I can't believe we've been friends for this long and our bond is only getting stronger. We are growing up and are now adults planning our futures and still fitting each other into our busy schedules. Hey, you're even getting married! And I can't wait to plan your dream day and be by your side yet again for that as well. Our friendship started out so hectic and I am so happy we never stopped being friends because I truly don't know where I'd be without you.
You and your family changed my life and I couldn't have asked for a better best friend. Just like we've always told each other, "No matter where life takes me, you will always be my sister and best friend." Thank you for always being my shoulder to cry on, the person who has never judged me, and my voice of reason. I love you. Here's to our first decade as friends, and so many more!
