I have been in London, England for about a week now and I absolute love it. London reminds me of New York City--busy and loaded with people. The culture here is full of life. Many people here come from different backgrounds. I have met people from Spain, Italy, and even Jordan. It has been an amazing experience, and I can't wait to start traveling.
One night, we decided to go around London and pub hop. We went to our favorite pub first, Alsop Arms. (That was our first pub we went to when we arrived in London.) We all started off with a pint and worked our way through. After, we walked all the way to Piccadilly Circus, which is like the Times Square of London, to explore more pubs. The pubs in London are so friendly and amazingly social. Depending on what pubs you go to, you could pay only 2 pounds for a pint. Which in pound sense is AWESOME!
After we walked around and visited a couple more pubs, we made our way over to the Big Ben. Now let me just tell you, the Big Ben at night is absolutely beautiful and breathtaking. I could have stared at it all night. There was a moment I wish I could pause and just relive a 100 times over. Again, it was simply perfect.
After that, we walked over a bridge and found ourselves in front of bikes. Now, it was about 12 o'clock in the morning, and having more than a pint makes you a little daring. We decided to rent the bikes out for 24 hours and see where the night would takes us. We started to ride around the London Eye, which is also another fabulous place to see at night. As we rode farther, we decided to ride all the way to Tower Bridge. Now, riding to a bridge in a city that we are not familiar with in the wee hours of the night might have not been the greatest idea ever, but it was unforgettable. Seeing the streets of London at that time of the night was something that I will never be able to unsee. We eventually reached the Tower Bridge, and it was gorgeous. We decided to ride over the bridge and then back home.
By the time we got home it was about 3 or 4 in the morning. We stopped at a Subway to get something quick to eat. (How American of us!)
This is a night I will never forget. The freedom of riding in a city with such rich culture is unfathomable. I am hoping I will make more memories while I am here, because this is just the start of it.
