1. Throne of Glass by. Sarah J. Maas

If you like independent, badass lady characters this book is for you. Celaena Sardothien with capture your heart by the first chapter. All other books in this series are obviously also recommended!

2. Red Queen by. Victoria Aveyard

This book, like many book I love, has a strong female protagonist. Her story is one of survival and betrayal. It'll keep you turning the pages for hours!

3. Kiss of Deception by. Mary E. Pearson

Princess escapes arranged marriage. Princess run away. Princess... WAIT! There's a twist that will keep you entrapped in the story. This cleverly written book features a nice love triangle between the princess, the prince she was suppose to marry, and the assassin sent to kill her, but is written so you can tell who's the prince and who is the assassin. Will you guess correctly? I didn't.

4. A Court of Thorns and Roses by. Sarah J. Maas

Sarah J. Maas is a flawless human being who I have dedicated five years of my life to by reading her books. This gorgeous story with Beauty and the Beast undertones takes love, relationships, and loyalty to the next level. Think this book is good? The second installment A Court of Mist and Fury blows it out of the water by adding betrayal to the mix. Caution: this series will top all past OTPs and give you all the feels.

5. Night World by. L. J. Smith

I was emo as shit when I first read this series, but I must honor my favorite series of middle school in this article. When I read this, I appreciated the depth that this universe offered to readers. It has vampires, werewolves, shapshifters, and more. Just wait until you get to the last volume of this anthology. Prophecies, death, and feels will rain down upon you. Side note: L. J. Smith, release the last book already! I've waited SEVEN YEARS.

6. The Shapeshifters by. Amelia Atwater-Rhodes

I also read this series in middle school. This book contains five novels, but I'm here to recommend the first two, Hawksong and Snakecharm. I'm a sucker for the "forbidden love" and "bad-boy-has-feelings" tropes; please see ships such as Buffy and Angel and Rey and Kylo Ren. These two books are a home run if you love that.

7. The Infernal Devices by. Cassandra Clare

I know this might be an unpopular opinion, but I enjoyed this series more than the Mortal Instruments series. This series takes place in Victorian London and acts as a prequel series to the Mortal Instruments. This book stands out to people who enjoy romance, crying at said romance, and stories of self-discovery.

8. Brave New World by. Aldous Huxley

This book is my all time favorite literary classic, excluding Shakespeare. I'd like to give a nod to Aldous Huxley, my birthday bro. It has lessons about the nature of society, the relationship between happiness and truth, and the dangers of a dystopian, classist society.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
