5 of my Proudest Moments that i will cherish forever

When life starts going wrong, sometimes it's good to reflect on what was done right

Whenever I feel down about something, I like to look back and think about the positives. Honestly, I encourage anyone else to do the same. It really does wonders, trust me. After feeling bad about some of my past personal decisions, I had to think about what I have felt good about in the past. So without further ado, here are five moments I am proud of.

1. Traveling to Europe as an unaccompanied minor for two months.

When I was fifteen, my mom sent me to Europe to visit family for two months during the summer. With my entire family working and me being too young to have a stable summer job, it seemed like the only option. It was scary at first, going through long flights and finding the gates at big airports in multiple cities, but it was an incredible experience that made me feel challenged in a good way.

2. My talent of finding cheap concert tickets.

One thing I consider myself as the "plug" with is finding cheap concert tickets. I will dedicate weeks to this craft, making sure I get the best deal and the lowest tickets out of everyone else. For example, when the Indy 500 Snake Pit tickets got up to around $100, I found tickets for $50 per person a few days before the actual event. It was a steal!

3. Keeping my word about being a writer one day.

Since seventh grade, I told my guidance counselor I wanted to be a writer. I didn't establish the exact type of writing I wanted to do until eighth grade, when my heart settled for journalism. I went through all four years of high school practicing how to write journalistically, and now that I'm about to be a senior at college, I'm so glad I kept my word and I really do look forward to getting into the job field and being an actual journalist one day!

4. Doing a full face of makeup in 20 minutes.

This one is kind of lame, but it used to take me a whole hour to do my makeup. When I say full face, I'm talking about concealer, foundation, powder, bronzer, contour, blush, highlighter, eyeliner, mascara, lashes, and lipstick. All together it took me forever to do my makeup, but after a couple years of practice, I got my time down to doing a full face in twenty minutes. If you're a makeup-holic like me, you'd have to admit that's pretty impressive.

5. Going through (almost) all four years of college without any 8AMs.

Yes, I am proud of this, and you know why? Because I am one of the very few people I know who had to eventually give in to taking an 8AM college class. I think my earliest class I have ever taken started at 9:30AM, and that's hard enough to make it to. I don't know how students who are in 8AMs do it, but I am glad that is not me. Fingers crossed that I don't jinx myself and end up with an 8AM my last semester of college!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
