The ban of Muslims seemed like a grand idea to many Trump supporters. Why deal with the so-called "terrorists" if we can just stop them from coming to the U.S? Simply trying to eradicate the problem by punishing those who are not terrorists did not seem to intervene on their claim that his rhetoric would be remotely effective. However, there is an assortment of reasons as to why this potential law would politically, morally and socially affect our country.
1. The so-called "land of the free"
For years we have taken pride in accepting different cultures from around the world. It is essentially our identity and we celebrate this whenever possible. The Muslim ban would turn us into a country of broken promise. What would we have left if we advocated for leadership that banned an entire race or religion?
2. ISIS would undeniably grow as a result!
The primary reason why many people join ISIS is not because they were born with black hearts. It is because they were isolated from their communities and even their families. It is this vulnerable stage in their lives in which they will leave to be a part of a group of people, even if it means that they are malicious and brutal. The ban on Muslims could further their feelings of abandonment and isolation, causing more people to join ISIS to relieve the sense of abandonment to be a part of something.
3. Politically, it will further our tensions with other countries
Hundreds of thousands of refugees come to America, however, on the ban, countries will become upset with the ban on account that our country refuses to assist people in dire situations around the world. Foreign Policy will surely diminish, and if this trend continues, trade alliances (oil) could become less accessible.
