If you’re stubborn like me and refuse to listen to people when they tell you not to listen to music while working, then this is the article for you!
I’m the type of person who needs to be listening to music while they work. However, some studies have shown that this could actually be detrimental to the work’s potential. But, am I going to quit my ways? No. I’m just going to switch them up a little bit by changing the “type” of music I listen to.
1. Workout
(Yes, I know no one says, “Don’t listen to music when exercising,” but I wanted to add it in anyway.)
While you’re working out, you want to listen to music that will pump you up and get you excited to be exercising. Any songs that are upbeat will get your adrenaline going for your upcoming workout.
Some songs include:
"6 Foot 7 Foot" - Lil Wayne
"Crazy" - Kat Dahlia
"Million Dollar Bills" - Lorde
"rEaR VIeW" - ZAYN
2. Factual Essays
Let’s be real, it can be boring when you have to write a ten page essay for a class. It makes it even more difficult when you have to switch between different web tabs and make sure all of your citations are correct. Trust me, you don’t want even more words filling your head through your usual music. This is where you have to turn on some classical music or (my favorite) soundtracks!
Some songs include:
"Lily’s Theme" - Alexandre Desplat (from Harry Potter)
"The Resurrection Stone" - Alexandre Desplat (from Harry Potter)
"The Danish Girl" - Alexandre Desplat (from “The Danish Girl”)
"Alan" - Alexandre Desplat (from “The Imitation Game”)
(Basically anything by Alexandre Desplat.)
3. Creative Writing
Did you get a “creative writing” assignment from a teacher? Did you obtain a grand total of zero writing prompts for that assignment? Lucky for you, the brain is full of potential ideas to write about, you just have to pull those ideas out. For creative writing, you still want to listen to classical music, but this time, have them be more upbeat.
Some songs include:
"A Kaleidoscope of Mathematics" - James Horner (from “A Beautiful Mind”)
" Professor Umbridge" - Nicholas Hooper (from Harry Potter)
"Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy" - Tchaikovsky
"Symphony No. 9" - Beethoven
"Giza Port" - Jerry Goldsmith (from “The Mummy”)
Now go on with your life and continue to be stubborn.
