With every year comes new experiences and influences. You change as a person from year to year, and you grow and evolve as time passes. This is a list of a few of things I've learned in my 19 years of life:

You have a habit of procrastinating, but being around productive people helps a lot.

Thank you, Emma ♡

You are definitely allergic to cats, stop trying to befriend them.

The Bachelor is not as cheesy and annoying of a show as you thought.

Doesn't take much to get hooked.

The worst thing about college is not getting to bring the dog with you.

Accounting is not your friend. Do not be an accountant.

School spirit is one of the best things on the planet.

So are New York pizza and bagels.

Living with roommates is great, especially when they're your best friends.

Surrounding yourself with like-minded people makes everything better.

College guys really enjoy decorating Christmas cookies.

Adulting can be liberating but super stressful at the same time.

Brothers get nicer after you move out.

Calling your mom for help is necessary at least once a week.

Decorations and themed whiteboards make living in a dorm much more fun.

Make the most out of every opportunity you get - you don't know what it could lead to.

Appreciate the little things in life.

A smile goes such a long way.

Live in the moment, but always save memories to look back on.

Tell people how much you appreciate them because you never know how long you have.

I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
