Music eases the soul.
Everyone needs an outlet to turn to when they feel stressed, over-stretched, or stagnate. For some their release involves exercising, writing some poetry, or simply relaxing on the couch with a favorite TV show. For others, like myself, music is their release from the daily burdens of reality. When occupied with an abundance of stress inducing tasks such as homework, personal issues, and/or work related complications it can be easy to become enveloped by the dull, white noise life creates when we are emotionally off-balance. It is during times like these that I especially find music to be helpful in returning me back to a balanced state of mind and body. For others I know that listening to music motivates them to finish their workout, finish an assignment, or get them through a tedious task. Music has the potential to completely change a person’s state of being from one of high paced anxiety to one of slow paced tranquility.
I have always associated music with the notion that it resonates with whatever feeling your soul is expressing and consoles your troubled mind. It makes you feel as if you are understood by some invisible force from which you never asked for help, but it came to help nonetheless. Music can take your mind away to a whole other universe where the difficulties of reality virtually do not exist. Temporarily, that person is free of burden, of grief, and of stress. The sensation someone feels when they listen to a song that personally affects them is difficult to explain. It is one that cannot be understood unless a person completely opens up their mind to the experience.
In order to maintain a sense of balance everyone has an outlet for which they use to escape from reality’s demanding responsibilities. It is not as though life is full of only hardships and difficulties. Realistically, life offers us more prosperous and pleasant memories than we can keep track of. It is just that the painful moments seem to last the longest and plague our emotional state the most.
Music has always been associated with the soul and it is not hard to see why. Music is evocative, powerful, and can be descriptive of almost any emotion we are going through in our lives. It is important to remember that music is not a solution to whatever issues we may be going through, but it can be a tremendous aid.
I have always found music to be an amazing friend and support system for whenever I was feeling alone, depressed, or completely estranged from what was happening in reality. I know this to be the same for many other people in the world. So, should you ever feel down about yourself or anything else that is going on in your life, think about using music to help guide you back to a smoother path. There is no one song to listen to to fix everything, just like there is no one path to a better life. You will have to experience a few and learn about what speaks to you the most before you can truly come up with a lifelong playlist. Keep listening, keep playing, but most importantly, keep living.
