Music is within our reach wherever we go. Whether it's on our phone, computer or in our car, music is always a click away. Music therapy has been practiced for decades as a way to treat neurological conditions, such as anxiety and depression. Music has had a tremendous impact on my life and the lives around me. The next time you're feeling down, turn to music to pick you up.
1. Music is relaxing.
After a long stressful day of classes or meetings, music is the perfect medicine. Take a seat and kick your feet up for a relaxing evening full of my personal favorite musician, John Mayer.
Recommendation: "Wildfire" by John Mayer
2. Music increases productivity.
Procrastination plagues students worldwide and music is here to heal us all. Turn on any upbeat song and get to work. Before you know it, you'll have finished all your homework for the semester and cleaned your entire apartment.

3. There's music to match every mood.
Whether you're at a rave or spending your evening at your local coffee shop, there's a genre to match any mood. If you're feeling sad, there's always the perfect song to instantly change your mood.
Recommendation: "Colors" by Haley
4. Music speaks for us.
When life gets to be too much, we can rely on the constant melodies of our favorite songs to get us through it. If we can't collect our thoughts and generate our own words, music is there for us.
Recommendation: "I'd Love to Change the World" by Jetta
5. Music is your best friend.
No matter where you go, music is by your side. Whether you're at your first party or engaging in a conversation, music can mask your awkwardness and ease the situation.
