Mr. Austin Peay 2016 is Connor of Pi Kappa Alpha! Congratulations!

Everyone has seen what a traditional beauty pageant looks like: women in big dresses, tons of glitter, and even more hairspray! It's always a great show, but why do us women get to have all the fun? Maybe some men would like to put on their best suit and have an auditorium of their peers cheer them on! On Friday, seven men of Austin Peay State University got to do just that!

The women of Alpha Gamma Delta hosted the third annual Mr. Austin Peay pageant on September 23, 2016. The purpose of this pageant was to raise money for the Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation and Juvenile Diabetes Education and Awareness. Due to ticket sales, tee shirt sales, and entry fees, Alpha Gamma Delta has raised over $1,900! This number continues to grow as more donations come in-all thanks to this event!

Alpha Gamma Delta's Philanthropy Chair shared why she loved the Mr. Austin Peay pageant: "I love Mr. Austin Peay because it's a different way to raise money for something that means so much to [us]."

The students who attended the pageant had a great time! The men competed in three rounds: swimwear, talent, and formal-where they answered two questions. There were many acts that had the auditorium smiling and laughing. Some acts revealed a few great hidden talents that the contestants had. Overall, it was a fun Friday night.

The men had a good time joking around and getting ready backstage.

Mr. Austin Peay 2014 asked Tommy if Tommy considered himself classy or sexy. Tommy did not hesitate in his answer, "Both."

Connor had the crowd in awe by playing and singing "Say Something (I'm Giving up on You)" by A Great Big World.

When asked about his "guilty pleasure," Trey took a long pause and pleaded the fifth before he finally answered, "It's gotta be the ladies."

Mike did his version of a cute penguin dance to Right Said Fred's "I'm too Sexy."

Jake had the audience clapping along to his lip sync of Sam Hunt's "House Party."

Who doesn't swoon over John Mayer's "Daughters"? JJ did a great lip-sync that had all the ladies swaying with their cell phone flashlights in hand.

Noah played an amazing rendition of "Colors of the Wind" from Pocahontas on his violin.

Inspired by "Magic Mike," Trey performed a dance to Ginuwine's "Pony" after pretending to trip and fall on stage.

The four judges loved the show!

Noah definitely earned the title crowd favorite with his answers during the formal round. When asked, "What is one thing in the world you would change," Noah responded, "World Peace." When asked about his stance on socks with sandals, he simply said, "No." He may be a man of few words, but he sure gets the point across.

The First Runner Up, Wyatt, did not even need words for his answer. When he was asked if he preferred the whip/nae nae or the dab, Wyatt simply dabbed and walked off stage.

Alpha Gamma Delta's president, Emily, and Mr. Austin Peay 2014, Zac, crown Connor as the new Mr. Austin Peay 2016!

Great Job Alpha Gamma Delta!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
