It's that time of year everyone! Time to go back to school and get back to the grind. All of those in College are probably super excited because that means you are leaving home and going back to live with all your friends and have all the freedom you want!
Then again, the anxiety of actually getting everything together and actually doing the school part of College settles in. I for one have no idea where half of my school stuff is and am dreading the packing process...you'd think I'd have it down by senior year.
But then I get excited about getting to dance everyday and do what I love and finally have something to do everyday! Don't get me wrong, sitting at home, hanging out with my mom, and watching Grey's Anatomy has been great, but I'm ready to get off the couch and back into class!
I went through a series a phases in the past couple of weeks leading up to the big move in that I'm sure all of you College kids can relate to:
Initial excitement to be back!
Having all the freedom you want and not having to live under your parents roof is a great feeling to be back to.
Sudden anxiety about actually doing school.
Right, because that's the whole idea of College...getting an education.
Mentally preparing for the new students.
Let's face it, we all know a freshman when we see one (no offense, we've all been there!).
Getting all your new school stuff together.
Because room decor is much more important than the textbooks you need to buy.
Anxiety about your schedule settles in..
You start realizing that scheduling five classes in a day with no breaks maybe wasn't your best idea...
Then the packing process....
How I'm going to fit all of my stuff in my tiny car is a mystery but it has to be done.
Sudden dread about dealing with humans.
Let's face it, some people are just not your cup of tea. And you have to start seeing them every day again.
And then more excitement about going back!
No more crappy summer jobs, no more boredom, you're back at it with your pals and are having fun doing what you love with the people you love!
These are some of the general feelings I have felt over the past two weeks while getting ready to go back to school. At first, I didn't want to go back because I don't want to accept that it's my last year. But now, I'm super excited to take on the year and have so many awesome things to look forward to. And, seeing all my friends again will be great as well!
So for anyone who is worried about going back to school, don't be! When you get back, everything will fall back into place and it will feel like you never left.
