Five Must-See Movies During Spring Break
Mark T. Hardy II

For those of you that have reached the final push of your spring break, I greatly pity you. For those of you that have spring break starting next week...I greatly envy you. But, saltiness aside, I have a few suggestions for those of you that are just starting off. Only instead of a long, inspiring list of things you could do during it, I'll give you guys a much shorter list, and the "things" will be much more precise.

We all know that there are several good movies out there right now, and, having seen a few myself, am going to present you all with a list of movies that I personally would recommend.

1. Get Out

If you want a movie that's both suspenseful and thought-provoking, you guys should definitely check this one out. I was dragged to it spontaneously by some friends really late at night--very appropriate, I know--and I absolutely LOVED it! I won't say what it's about, or even the message that it's trying to convey--though I might write an article about it in the near future, so stay tuned--but trust me when I say that it's one that will keep you thinking long after you've left the theatre, and one you'll never forget!

2. Logan

Not gonna lie, manly tears were shed during this movie, and in all honesty, I'm still pretty emotional over it. If you thought Hugh Jackman's Wolverine movies were just about a guy that can't die and kills people, you couldn't be more wrong. This movie in particular , the final Wolverine movie with Hugh Jackman, has both heart and a kind of suspense that will keep you on the edge of your seat the entire time and not be afraid to provide some pretty emotional and surprising scenes along the way.

Oh and just in case any of you were curious, no, there is no after credit scene for this one.

3. Tucker and Dale vs. Evil

Bet you guys thought this list would just be filled with blockbuster movies, huh? Well, sorry to say, that isn't the case. But hey, at least you won't have to look very far to find this one--it's on Netflix. This movie has it all, comedy, mock horror, and best of all, the kind of goofy fun any young adult can appreciate.

4. Anything and Everything Disney

You all probably already figured I'd have something Disney-related on this list. And how could I not? There are way too many good Disney films out there , so the only solution is simply to watch them all!

5. The Prestige

Warning: This movie is guaranteed to mess with, and blow, your mind!

Of course I had to put a Christopher Nolan movie on this list, and can you blame me? The man is an absolute genius, what all of us writing/literature majors aspire to be. Now I know what most of you are thinking: "Why not Inception, or the Batman Trilogy?" and or that question, I have but a single answer: This one has Wolverine AND Batman duking it out as magicians!!! That right there ought to be enough to convince anybody! I mean, seriously, they're MAGICIANS!!! What more could you ask for? In all honesty, though, you should really check this one out. It's guaranteed to leave you with more questions than answers--in a very good way, that is.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
