There’s nothing better than reminiscing on old times by watching a movie from your childhood. Unless, of course, that movie has a sequel. As we went off to college, we all cried with Andy as he said goodbye to his childhood memories in "Toy Story 3." This year, we will catch a glimpse into the lives of our favorite underwater friends with the long-awaited "Finding Dory." Some movies, however, ended abruptly, never giving us a chance to figure out what happened after the final curtain.
So, in order not to leave your childhood on a cliffhanger, here are six movies that need a little bit of closure:
1. "The Incredibles"
In the last scene of "The Incredibles" in 2004, the Parrs have returned home and readjusted to normal life—or so they thought. The city is attacked by a villain called Underminer, so the family suits up to save the town. In the sequel, Underminer has been defeated and the kids have all grown up. Dash has gone off to college, Jack Jack is struggling through the teen angst stage, and Violet is engaged. On her wedding day, however, a new villain seizes the city and the family must once again come together to save the world.
2. "Life Size"
When "Life Size" ended in 2000, Eve had turned back into a doll and gained significant popularity thanks to Casey’s valuable life lessons. In the sequel, Casey has graduated from college and, ever-inspired by her own encounter with Eve, gone on to work at Marathon, creating dolls that serve as good role models to young girls. Trouble ensues, however, when a competing company threatens to buy Marathon. This time, Casey must use the spell to go into the doll world of Sunnyvale and save Marathon from extinction.
3. "Parent Trap"
Although "Parent Trap" ended with a happily ever after in 1998, in the sequel we get a glimpse into the present-day lives of Hallie and Annie. It’s 2015, and the twins find themselves back at Camp Walden—this time as camp counselors. When the camp decides to hold an end of the year competition between cabins, the twins must rival it out with their campers as they compete against one another—perhaps even putting their fencing skills to the test one more time.
4. "Quints"
When "Quints" left off in 2000, Jamie had learned to love the idea that she had five new siblings—five times the love, right? In the sequel, Jamie is married and expecting her first child—or at least what she thought was one. When Jamie finds out she, too, is expecting quintuplets, chaos ensues as she, her mom and, of course, all five siblings, help prepare for the big day.
5. "The Lizzie McGuire Movie"
It’s 2015 and Lizzie, Gordo and Miranda have all graduated from college. Gordo, who finally managed to break out of the friend zone with Lizzie, plans a surprise graduation trip to Paris, with plans to propose to Lizzie under the Eiffel Tower. His plans go astray, however, when Lizzie has a chance encounter with Isabella and is invited to accompany her on tour. Will she join the pop star on a whim, sending Gordo's plan up in flames?
6. "Cadet Kelly"
When "Cadet Kelly" left off in 2002, Captain Stone and Kelly finally made amends as Stone told Kelly that she’d like for her to become captain one day. The sequel shows Kelly upholding this request as she becomes cadet captain at George Washington. However, she gets a taste of her own medicine when a spoiled new girl joins the team. As the girl tries to wreak havoc on the cadet team, Kelly must figure out a way to shine through to her and uphold the school’s good reputation.
So while these sequels might never make it to the big screen, a little hope and imagination can give you the ending you always wanted for your favorite childhood characters.
