2016 has been an immensely crazy year for the film industry. Leonardo di Caprio finally won an Oscar (I might have cried out of happiness), Alan Rickman sadly passed away (raise your wands folks), and many interesting and successful movies have already come out ("Allegiant," "The Revenant," "Deadpool," etc.). If you thought the film industry was going to take a breather and save some epic movies for later, you are absolutely wrong. The lineup of movies coming out later this year looks absolutely incredible. I have picked my top eight favorites to discuss here. So whether you are a movie aficionado or you want an activity that gets you out of the house without much physical exercise, here's the list.

1. Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children

Release Date: Sept. 30, 2016

This was the book that I would always see in the young adult section of Barnes and Noble and be so creeped out by the pictures within the book that I did not want to even pick it up for fear of nightmares. But I am interested in the movie adaptation because a favorite actor of mine, Asa Butterfield ("Ender’s Game," "The Boy in the Striped Pajamas"), is playing the main character. (Fun Fact: Asa and I share the same birthday!) He does such a great job in his movies that I finally conceded and watched the trailer.

I realized that the book was not a creepy little horror book about odd children. It's kind of like a more supernatural version of Hogwarts. Also, looking at the cast of Judi Dench ("A Room with a View," "Skyfall"), Eva Green ("Penny Dreadful," "Casino Royale"), and Samuel Jackson (almost every Marvel movie) definitely fuels my interest in the movie. The plot tells of a young boy, Jacob, who somehow manages to end up on a strange island inhabited by special children, whom he protects from evil forces. I think this movie will be a nice change from the onslaught of dystopian film adaptations that have hurtled into the theaters. It is a supernatural kind of story that I can easily see becoming a classic. The trailer gave me a very enchanted feeling, like I am about to go on an adventure unlike one I have ever gone on before. I think the lesson this has showed me is not to judge a book by its cover (cheesy, I know, but honestly). I will be adding this book to my reading list.

2. The Man Who Knew Infinity

Release Date : April 29, 2016

Dev Patel ("Slumdog Millionaire," "The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel") is back with the inspirational story of Srinivasan Ramunajan, a poor man from Madras, India who is given admittance to Cambridge University during the First World War. Even though Ramunajan had no real training in mathematics, he managed to identify and prove many theorems all by himself. The movie is going to focus on his admittance to Cambridge and his friendship with the famous mathematician G.H. Hardy. Patel is joined by a slew of English actors who together form an extremely talented cast to portray the real-life story of an extremely brilliant man. This magnificent story combined with a fantastic cast is sure to do well, and I think I can safely sense a few Oscar nominations.

3. Me Before You

Release Date: June 3, 2016

I was randomly searching for trailers and this one popped up. There are several reasons why this movie is going to probably be one of the best romantic movies of 2016. It has a star-studded cast of Emilia Clarke ("Game of Thrones"), Sam Claflin ("The Hunger Games: Catching Fire"), Jenna Coleman ("Doctor Who"), and Charles Dance ("Game of Thrones"). Also, fan-favorite Matthew Lewis ("Harry Potter") claims a supporting role. This film adaptation tells the story of a young, unambitious girl who gets a job taking care of a paralyzed young man. The story’s plot has many little twists that keep the viewer on their toes. It will be interesting to see Emilia Clarke play a different type of role from the sexy and powerful Daenerys Targaryen from "Game of Thrones" to the sweet, unassuming Louisa Clark. From the looks of the trailer, she is going to do an amazing job. This book is going on my reading list to hopefully get to before the movie comes out. There are so many sweet, adorable, awkward, funny, and heart-wrenching portions of the trailer that made my heart flutter and just get so excited! I just know it's going to join my list of romantic classics, such as "Sleepless in Seattle," "Pride and Prejudice," and "The Notebook." You know, the general sleepover playlist of movies.

Confession: I was perfectly normal at the beginning of the trailer and was near an emotional heartbreak at the end. This movie is going to wreck me. But I can’t wait.

4. Now You See Me 2

Release Date: June 10, 2016

When the first "Now You See Me" came out, I don’t think anybody expected it to be as good as it actually was. But the combination of quirky characters, interesting plot lines, and general dry humor built the movie up into a pretty original hit for 2013. Because of this, the hype can only build for the sequel. I do worry that it will follow the same problem that many sequels fall into, that it won’t be as funny or as iconic as the first one (e.g. "Mean Girls 2," "Lion King 2"). But there are exceptions ("Lord of the Rings" and "Toy Story"). Hopefully, this will be added to the success list. Because honestly, a group of Robin Hood magicians cavorting around looking fly and doing good through a plot with unexpected twists and turns deserves a sequel. One thing that will help the general awesomeness factor of the movie is that Daniel Radcliffe ("Harry Potter") will be joining Morgan Freeman, Mark Ruffalo, Jesse Eisenberg, Dave Franco, Woody Harrelson, and the rest of the talented cast, which will only make me fangirl harder.

5. Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them

Release Date: November 18, 2016

The whole world literally lost their minds when J.K. Rowling announced a trilogy that would take us on another magical journey through the wizarding world that we all grew up with and loved so dearly. And, once the world got used to the fact that this was going to occur, they had to cast Eddie Redmayne as the main character, Newt Scamander, which promptly caused the world to lose their senses again. Hearing these pieces of news made me feel like when Eddie Redmayne received an Oscar, and was just like, wow, this is beautiful, everything is beautiful, I love life! Plus, Eddie Redmayne has the most dashing coat in the trailer, so we all just know that Halloween is going to have a new trend in the years to come. Newt Scamander is a researcher of magical creatures, and the upcoming trilogy will look at his adventures before the publication of the beloved textbook that is used by Harry Potter seventy years after its publication. Also, the first part takes place in New York City. I am super excited to back in the wizarding world, and I think this movie is going to show us a beloved place in a light that we have never seen before.

6. The Jungle Book

Release Date: April 15, 2016

Disney has been on a roll with these live action adaptations of their cartoon classics. From "Maleficent" to "Cinderella," Disney has been adapting these classics into new stories that we can show to our kids. The next classic in the lineup is "The Jungle Book." We revisit the jungles of India, where an abandoned baby is raised by wolves. With a bear for a playmate and a panther for a mentor, the only thing stopping the lovable Mowgli from an amiable lifestyle is the fearsome tiger Shere Khan, along with some other unsavory characters. Neel Sethi stars in his first major motion picture as the adorable Mowgli. Please go look him up, he's really adorable and has the great potential to break many hearts. Joining this young man are an onslaught of the greats, Bill Murray, Ben Kingsley, Scarlett Johanssen, Lupita Nyong'o, Idris Elba, Christopher Walken, and Giancarlo Esposito. Disney will do a fantastic job with this.

7. Doctor Strange

Release Date: November 4, 2016

Benedict Cumberbatch is going to be in a Marvel movie. Let that sink in. Okay? Now, let's discuss. This movie is just going to be amazing. It has no choice. It is a Marvel movie about a super cool character who, need I repeat, is played by the beautiful, charismatic, wonderful Benedict Cumberbatch ("Sherlock," "The Imitation Game"). The story tells the tale of a brilliant surgeon whose talent falls victim to a tragic car accident. The doctor sets out on a journey of self-healing. During his journey, he discovers an Ancient One, who instructs him in the mystical arts. Joining the wonderful Cumberbatch are the beautiful Rachel McAdams ("The Notebook," "Mean Girls," "Southpaw"), Chiwetel Ejiofor ("12 Years A Slave," "Amisted," "The Martian"), Tilda Swinton ("Vanilla Sky," "The Chronicles of Narnia"), and Mads Mikkelsen ("Casino Royale," "Hannibal"). He reminds me so much of Robert Downey Jr. They both played Sherlock Holmes, they both are now Marvel superheroes, and Rachel McAdams figures in somewhere here. And I love them both so much. But anyway, it's a new Marvel movie, which is always an exciting event. Add in a cool plot line and a phenomenal cast, this movie is going to be pretty swell.

8. Finding Dory

Release Date: June 17, 2016

It has been 13 years.13 long, hard years. But we are finally returning to the deep blue sea to accompany one of the most adorable and iconic fish on her own adventure. Disney and Pixar finally listened to Ellen DeGeneres's "subtle" hints at giving Dory her own movie, and now we have this movie to splash into the summer. The plot of "Finding Dory" involves our beloved Dory going on a quest to be reunited with her parents, accompanied by the cautious Marlin and the fun-loving Nemo. Other reappearances in this film will include Crush the turtle, Gill, and Deb (and her reflection, Flo). With Dory's mannerisms, Marlin's awkward jokes, and a spectacular quest, this movie is sure to not disappoint.

This list was just the top movies that I am personally excited for. There are many other pieces which have as much opportunity to become fan favorites. I have however picked the ones I am definitely going to see. Hope you remembered the ones you are excited for or discovered new movies to add to your watch list!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
