The holiday season is the perfect opportunity to spend quality time with the people we love most, and one of my favorite ways to hang out with my favorite people is to see new movies! There is a lot of hype about various movies this month, and I can't wait to see them! Here's what to look forward to:
1. Krampus
Krampus came out on December 4th. It is a film version of the German myth about Santa Clause's counterpart, Krampus. Santa comes to the houses of the people on the nice list, bringing them presents and joy. Krampus comes to the houses of the people on the naughty list, ready to eat them and their families. It is supposed to be a horror movie, but seems as though it is mixed with an extraordinary amount of humor. It is the perfect anti-Christmas movie to see with an ironic group of friends!
2. Sisters
Our favorite pair of comediennes team up again for a seemingly plotless, yet hilarious film. Amy Poehler and Tina Fey play sisters (obviously) who throw a high school-esque party for old time's sake. This film was released on December 17th, a day before the new Star Wars movie that fans have been waiting on for months, so it had some heavy competition. However, Amy and Tina have a huge fanbase themselves to promote the movie to, and could easily expect a large audience especially since they co-hosted SNL the night after the movie's release. This is perfect for any SNL fan to see in the days before Christmas to really get the family laughing.
3. Joy
Another comedy film, although paired with drama, hits the theaters this December, on the 24th. It stars the infamous Jennifer Lawrence, who plays a divorced mother of two, attempting to build up her business after a large success. She, again, is accompanied by Bradley Cooper. The duo have recieved a lot of praise about how well they worked together, and Cooper has even discussed the on-screed chemistry that they have developed that seems to work well on projects they work on together. The movie is given a 62% on Rotten Tomatoes, but is predicted by many Lawrence fans that it will do extremely well at the box office!
4. Concussion
This film is Will Smith's latest work. It is the story of a forensic pathologist who discovers a "neurological deterioration" in a famous NFL player. Smith's character works to create publicity around the fact that many football professionals suffer from extreme brain traumas due to their rough sport. The film is released to the public on December 24th, and received 6.4/1 stars on IMBD. It is a class Smith drama!
