Dear Mama,

I can't even begin to thank you for all that you have done for me. I wish every day was Mother's Day so that you could be told how amazing you are every single day. It's scary to be away from you this year on this special day, but I figured that I could at least tell you all the amazing qualities you have as a mom and how blessed I am to have a mother like you.

You're more than just a mom to me.

You are my biggest fan, my role model and my person to go to about anything. When it comes to things that I'm involved in, you are right there supporting me in whatever I chose to do. I look up to you so much and hope that one day when I become a mother, I'm just like you. You have never judged me for choices I've made and you give the best advice to help me climb out of holes I've dug myself into. You encourage me to be the best that I can possibly be. When people put me down, you're the first one to tell me how little their opinion is compared to how big my capabilities are.

You work so hard to make our family amazing.

You make sure we have food on the table at the end of the day and that our needs are always taken care of. You have raised me into the independent adult that I'm becoming and you're the reason why I never give up when things get hard.

One thing I love about you is your 'mama bear' instincts.

When people say anything about your children in a negative manner, you are so quick to defend us and make it known that you are proud to have us as your children. Another thing I love is how you're always right, even when I really don't want you to be. When I can't find something, you always know where it is. When I try to prove a point, you always prove me wrong.

Mama, you have no idea how strong and beautiful you truly are.

You have experienced so much throughout your life so far and you never let things knock you down. You have such a positive outlook on life that I live by every day. I am so proud of you for your accomplishments, as well. You have been working so hard to improve yourself and I love seeing how happy it makes you every time you reach a goal you've set for yourself.

You love me when I'm at my worst and when I'm at my best.

You have seen me through every broken heart I've gone through and been there to hold my hand through all of them. And after the months of heartbreak, and I'm finally over the boy, I see why you didn't like them the first day I brought them home. Isn't it funny how moms recognize when a boyfriend sucks before we do? I guess that just shows how wise you are.

Thank you for always visiting me every chance you get.

Going to school away from home is hard because I have to go so long without seeing you and Dad. But, luckily for me, y'all come to visit me anytime I'm in a show or get homesick.

Being your daughter is honestly my greatest privilege.

I thank God every day for allowing me to be on this earth and for blessing me with a mother who cares so deeply about me. Thank you for raising me. Thank you for loving me. Thank you for crying with me and for the endless laughter. Thank you for supporting me. Thank you for treating me as your baby girl and an adult at the same time. Thank you for being so strong. Thank you for showing me who I want to be when I become a mother. Thank you for teaching me my worth and picking up my broken pieces when I fall apart. Most importantly, thank you for being my mama. I couldn't do life without you and I love you so very much.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
