College is weird in that you’re there to grow into an adult, yet, you find yourself turning into the most simplistic, curious five year old ever. Somehow, you stop wanting the expensive and luxurious items and stop being so damn complicated. All you want again is food, happiness, and someone to play with. You need to take naps at least twice a day and don’t understand the point of homework. Often times, if those things don’t go your way, you cry.. excessively. Alright I admit, we’re total babies. Surprisingly, there are a few things that can make college kids genuinely happy. When heard, these short questions and statements fill our hearts with joy, bring smiles to our faces, and can brighten up our entire day.
- “There’s going to be free food.” So why, again, are we not there already?!
- “I haven’t started studying yet either...” I have a companion on the Struggle Bus.
- “Do you need any groceries or gas money?” Wow….How giving and thoughtful of you...I love you so much Mom and Dad….You are a gift from above.
- “Do you want to take a study break?” One study break per one flashcard memorized, obviously.
- “There’s no cover charge tonight!” Because going out is expensive enough as it is.
- “Do you want anything? My treat, I have a ton of Flex left.” Why yes… Yes I do. Somehow I spent all of my 400 dollars of Flex the first month of the semester. I was flexin’ a little too hard at Mimi's Kitchen and Starbucks.
- “What do you want for Christmas?” Food, water, clothes, no more exams, a 4.0 GPA, a gift card to the grocery store, all thrown in a Louis Vuitton. Thanks in advance!
- “I realized that I made a mistake on one question that was on the exam, so everyone will be receiving one free point.” Lord. Something about that one point gives me so much hope.
- “There will be no assignment due for our next class, have a great weekend!” You, professor, are my new best friend.
- “I’ll swipe you into the caf.” YASS more free food!
- “Don’t worry I bombed that exam too!” I’m not the only one for once?
- “I’m probably just going to wear leggings and a t-shirt” ME. TOO.
- “Do you want to play with puppies?” God bless you… You know the way to my heart.
- “Do you need any help?” Yes, I’m a child. Help me with everything.
- “I love you” Because every college kid needs a little confirmation once in awhile, once again we’re still kids.
