In the real world, being a morning person is advantageous. It's a definite recipe for success when you're able to wake up early, get work done, and maybe even squeeze in a workout before your day starts. This is not so true in college, where everything seems to happen once the sun goes down. Parties? As long as we're back by midnight. Late-night study sessions? Forget it.
“Breakfast at 9:30 a.m.” never really means “breakfast at 9:30 am."
Breakfast plans are usually canceled when your friends have stayed up late the night before. Lonely mornings in the dining hall have become the norm, but hey, at least it's nice and peaceful at that hour.
You’re sweating bullets wondering if your friends have woken up in time for class.
After 13 text messages, five phone calls, and aggressively banging on their doors, you might even be able to coax them awake!
Your friends are complete zombies until they’ve had their morning coffee...
...and you're a little scared of them until then.
No one feels like talking in the morning.
You always seem to have so much to say, and everyone else is like:
As soon as it gets dark out – time for bed.
Once the sun goes down, your internal clock tells you to put on your PJs and go to sleep. This is especially annoying in the winter when it's pitch dark out by 4:30 p.m.
All-night study sessions never work out.
If you're still awake and doing homework after 11 p.m., tears are shed and an existential crisis is bound to occur.
You have to kick everyone out once the clock strikes 12.
This especially stinks if your room is the designated hangout spot. Sorry guys, but bedtime is bedtime.
You always miss all the best late-night adventures.
Why? Because you were sound asleep.
You need to plan ahead if you know you're gonna be up late.
Late-night study sessions, movie nights, parties -- you name it. We need to spend all day beforehand napping and building up the strength required for such endeavors.
And you have to spend the day after a late night recuperating.
This is where being a morning person absolutely stinks. You want to sleep all day, but once it's light out, you end up getting out of bed and attempting to be productive. This of course fails, and is followed by lots of crying and crankiness.
OK, so maybe us morning people are not quite suited for the college night life...but who's the real winner when those 8 a.m. classes roll around?
