A Day In The Life Of Someone Who's A Morning Person AND A Night Owl

We all know those people or have those friends who somehow manage to wake up at the crack of dawn to start their day. They always seem so bright and chirpy when everyone else is still in bed or awake, but half asleep. Yeah, they might get tired when it gets into the later evening, but you know they'll be up bright and early the next morning.

Then there are those people who can stay up super late without even getting drowsy. Sure they might sleep in until noon, but they come alive when it starts to get later. When you want to make plans for a night out or something that will go late, you know these people will be ready. However, these people tend to not be morning people.

Imagine being both of these people. When I say that, I mean imagine being the type who likes starting their days early and who likes ending them late. That's the kind of person I am becoming.

I didn't use to wake up early, but for the past few months I've been waking up around 5:30 or 6 to begin my day. However I also tend to stay up pretty late. Growing up, my mom would always say that I'm a night owl because of how late I'd be up.

Now that I've been waking up early and staying up late, I really get the best of both worlds. Sure I might not be getting a ton of sleep, but I only need five to eight hours a night to be able to get up and function for the next day.

When I started getting up early, I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to stay up late anymore. But, I discovered that I in fact can stay up late even on days that I get up early.

I never would have considered myself much of a morning person, but ever since I've gotten into the habit of starting my days early, I don't want to go back to sleeping half of my day away.

I've noticed that sometimes one day seems like two days because I've gotten so much done. It'll be in the afternoon and I'll think back to something that I did that morning, but it'll feel like I did that the day before.

I never ever would have guessed that I'd become one of those people who are able to get up super early. I have always been a night owl, but I have found that being a morning person has many perks too. I was never the type to jump out of bed in the morning, but I still became a morning person (it helps that I don't need a ton of sleep to be able to function too).

If you're ever wondering if people can be both, the answer is yes!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
