The world has some ridiculous standards, but you know what is even worse than that? Our own.
We have put the most judgment on ourselves. We say we aren't good enough because we trip over air. We say we are failures because we don't get texted back quick enough. We say we have no worth because our bank account is not as full as someone else's.
But here's the thing - your standards for yourself are crazy.
Expect more of yourself, yes. Challenge yourself always, but never discount yourself because you don't meet a ridiculous standard that you have set for yourself. You are so much more than the rules and guidelines you have created for yourself. And here is the honest truth - if you wouldn't grade a friend, a sibling, a child, or a random human on your grading scale for yourself then you shouldn't be going off that grading scale.
Get a new scale and treat yourself fairly. Almost everyone lives by the Golden Rule of "treat others how you want to be treated," but no one treats themselves how they want other people to treat them. If you expect the world to be kind to you, then you have to be kind to yourself.
You are so much more than the pressure you put on yourself to be perfect. You are so much more than the times you have looked in the mirror and said you are not enough. And guess what - you are even more than the times you have doubted your life and purpose on this earth.
Your life is beautiful and even though you have set a standard for yourself that no one could ever meet, you do have a purpose. You will accomplish so much more than you think and even if the battles you win are small, a win is a win all the same. Even in those times when getting out of bed is the best you can do, that's one thing you can mark off your list for that day.
You are always going to be so much more than you say you are. You are priceless. You are loved. You are worth more than your thoughts say you are.
The chances of anyone meeting the world's standard of perfection is slim, but you can always be enough for yourself.
