A Month in Greece: March

The month of March flew by so quickly it is hard to grasp the idea of only having less than 20 days in this beautiful country. March was filled with fun adventures with my friends as well as an unforgettable spring break with my brother!

It started strong with spring break for 10 whole days! You can read all about my trip in one of my recent articles here: https://www.theodysseyonline.com/follow-me-spring-.... It breaks everything down from each trip. I went to Prague, Czech Republic with three of my friends. Then flew all the way to Switzerland to meet up with brother and travel the world; hitting Zurich, Lucerne and Interlaken. Afterwards, we took a flight to Paris, France where we enjoyed plenty of crepes, monument and of course, the Eiffel Tower.

It was a hard goodbye to my brother but I was excited to get back in Athens and continue my abroad trip. I missed my friends that I have made here. Having only 13 people in your program solidifies friendships I know I will take on with me forever.

But Athens couldn't keep me in for long. My good friend, Stephanie Beck, and I decided to take advantage of one our free weekends and go take another trip. Barcelona, Spain, here we come!

We enjoyed these amazing doughnuts that would make your mouth water, great food and company. Our hostel was amazing at getting us to and from places (I am quite proud of myself for navigating us through the metro) as well as hosting a fun bar crawl. We were able to meet people from all over the world and learn their stories. I met a guy that was actually from Bucks County. Small world!

Steph and I saw everything from Park Guell to Sagrada Familia! It was such a beautiful country and I wish we had the chance to spend more than a day and a half there. Still worth every second.

Our program has been able to travel around the country of Greece almost every weekend we have had. We've seen many museums, sites and countless memories that have taken us through history. The weekend of the 25th, our program went to Olympia, Corinth, Isthmia and Sparta. Yes, all those in three days. We got to see the Olympic stadium at Olympia and had some fun playing pretend as the runners from the ancient Greek games. Helped us take our minds off the endless essays we are now cramming to get done.

It's not hard to tell now just how busy everyday is, here in Athens. We still have much more to see and I am savoring and appreciating every last day I have in this beautiful country before I have to go home.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
