Dear mom,
I know the older I get the less time that we have together and that our relationship is changing. But as i sit back and think about our relationship, I am grateful for the relationship that we have. There is nobody else i would want to call my mom and my best friend.
1. Thanks for always understanding.
Thank you for understanding that the older I get the more busy I become. Thank you for never getting mad when I haven't seen you in a month or talked to you during the week. Thanks for understanding that I am trying to balance my time between family, work, and friends.
2. Thanks for all the advice.
Thank you for listening to me when i was younger cry over boys and friends, and still now that I am older. Thank you for all the countless advice that you given me throughout the years because most of the time that advice is very useful. You always seem to know what to say to me when I need help figuring out what I should do.
3. Teaching me that it is okay to focus on yourself.
Thank you for teaching me that it is never wrong to focus on yourself. You showed me that I need to focus on myself and do things that would make me happy instead of trying to make everyone around me happy. Thank you for telling me that putting myself first once in a while is okay because you need time to just think and take care of yourself.
4. Being my number one supporter.
Thank you for driving hours to watch me perform the sport I love and sitting at the gym and watching hours of practice almost everyday. Thank you for attending every school event that I was involved even when you already had a busy schedule. Thank you for always being supportive of my dreams and life choices even when you disagreed with them.
5. Thank you for allowing me to be independent.
Thank you for allowing me to be independent, even when it bothered you at time. With me always being independent, I know it could have been a challenge for you. That is because it would have been a lot faster to get things done if you helped with it. I am grateful that you allowed me to express my independence because it makes me who I am.
Thank you for everything you did for me and that you continue to do as I grow older. Thank you for being the best mom and understanding me and allowing me to express who I am. There is nobody else I would want as my mom and my best friend. Always remember that I am your biggest fan and supporter too. I love you mom.
Love,
Your Daughter
