15 Signs Your Mom Is More Than Just A Mom

Having a strong relationship with your mother is one of the greatest gifts life has to offer. Sometimes, though, our mothers can offer us other types of bonds than just the traditional "mother-daughter" kind. Having a mother that doubles as a best friend, a guardian angel, a guidance counselor and so much more. Sometimes we don't realize that our moms are doubling as more than a parent and we don't give them due credit. Some ways you can tell your mom is basically a superhero in your life are:

1. She gives the best advice.

No matter the situation, she can give you advice from every angle. For any situation, she can go from mom to best friend to therapist in 0.5 seconds.

2. She knows what food to order.

She can cook the world's best food and she knows when a home-cooked meal is exactly what you need, but she also knows when ordering a pizza and drinking some Diet Coke is what you need to mend your soul.

3. She sends Snapchats as ugly as yours.

You've both grasped the fact that you're both potatoes and you like to constantly remind each other when you Snapchat or FaceTime each other.

4. She comes to you with her boy drama and you go to her with yours.

You just get each other. You both operate the same way when it comes to boys, so only you really know what to tell each other.

5. There are no boundaries.

Unlike most mother-daughter relationships, you tell each other everything. At first, she might be hesitant, but in reality, she's accepting of all the gory details. Nothing gets left out when it comes to any of your conversations.

6. She raids your closet.

When you finally left for college you were both at a standoff about what clothes stayed and what left. She likes to remind you that "you stole all her clothes when you went to college" yet every time you go home you find some article of clothing you thought had disappeared indefinitely.

7. You can be yourself around her completely.

Let's be honest, there aren't any boundaries with your actions. Dancing embarrassingly in the grocery store, yelling at people in restaurants, or singing at the top of your lungs anywhere and anytime, you and your mom are a great pair of lunatics and although everyone else around you may judge you, at least you have each other.

8. She's the best person to gossip with.

Honestly, you and your mom are the best at gossip. When your friends make you mad, you can go to her and complain and she'll call them out right alongside you. She may not even know them, but from the other stories you've told she can make her own opinion. Her workplace drama is also a great source of gossip for you because even though you probably couldn't distinguish her coworkers in a police lineup, you've heard all about them over the course of her job and you know that "Karen really just needs to get her life together."

9. She doesn't hesitate to call your stupidity out.

If anyone will let you know when you're being a mess, it's your mom. She won't let you act like a fool (without her of course) or waste your time moping over some guy. She's there to lift you up and call you out when it's time to get over it. It may seem harsh at the moment, but you'll thank her in the end.

10. The most embarrassing things aren't even embarrassing to each other.

This is most likely because the embarrassing things you've done, she did before you (or with you). You can make utter fools out of yourselves and nothing really matters.

11. You can call her at any time. Any. Time.

There's nothing I appreciate more than my 3 a.m. conversations with my mom about how much I hate boys and just want a pint of Ben and Jerry's. You two can call each other at any time and expect a response on the other line because it's just what you do. Any excuse to talk to each other is a good one and you'll take it even if it's just to talk about absolutely nothing.

12. You may not always see eye to eye on every thing but you always accept each other.

Like any best friends, you fight on some things. You may see some things differently, but in the end, if something makes one of you happy and it's not ruining your life, then you can accept each other of your differences. Honestly, though, this is probably a rare occasion, because you pretty much see everything the same way due to the fact that you're basically just one soul separated into two beings.

13. You're each others biggest bullies but best friends.

Your mom can say some of the meanest things to you (with love of course) and she'll be the first one you forgive. Honestly, you can't stay mad at each other and you're not sure if that's because she gave birth to you or because you love her more than anything else. No matter how bad you want to stay angry, for some reason when you hear her voice, you instantly feel okay again.

14. You've realized that although you tried to deny it, you're just like her and honestly, you wouldn't have it any other way.

"I'll never be like my mother" was the constant statement you made in your preteen years, but as you get older and mature, you realize that if you're going to be like any one, it better be your mom. She has so much power, strength, kindness, and just an extraordinary aura that if you can capture even a quarter of that, you'll be set for life.

15. She's the Lorelai to your Rory.

Enough said. She's your everything and you wouldn't change a thing.

So here's to all the mothers that double as best friends, therapists, super heroes, fashion advisors and life guides. We love you and we're so thankful to have you.

Who run the world? MOMS.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
