Modern Day Political And Racial Social Darwinism?

The ongoing political protest in Ethiopia is not showing any signs of improvement as the government continues on the suppression. At this point, national attention that was brought to the issue is not enough. And as we know it, no one cares about a third world country. There are countless people that want to take action, any action of their ability to stop this monstrous government from further destroying the country itself. It is disappointing to see the reality being what it is. Those of us that long for justice for our people could only wait and see what the end brings. As I have talked extensively with my father, who is very much an activist, as well as my close friends and families, the only thing we all share is the burning desire for justice in our hearts. The only tool we have is our voices, and the things we share and the freedom of expression. The advantage of living in a nation of freedom is the power we are given for expression. But what happens when that is taken away from us? Do we sit in silence seeing tragedy everywhere we turn?

Unfortunately, more than any other nation that is corrupt, Ethiopia remains with much bitter corruption. The systematic racial genocide towards the largest ethnic group, the Oromo tribe is proceeding. The government, currently being run by the Tigre tribe holds a belief that they are the chosen people, the pure ones that should take over and rule the country. Their plan to eradicate the Oromos that make up over a third of the country's population is rather becoming very challenging for them. By eliminating every peaceful citizen of the nation, they wish to expand upon every inch of the territories to build their own "Tigre only" nation. The Ethiopian government is doing no less than what Hitler did to the Jews, a demonic mentality within ruler still exists. This twisted mindset for social darwinism that was used to corrupt God's purpose for humanity, colonize nations and segregate humans into categories is very much alive. The plan to eradicate the “unfit” according to the government, is rather challenging than they predicted. Security forces respond to the largely peaceful protests with lethal force, firing into crowds from every direction.

As a response, protest continues to spread like wildfire due to the brutal response and grievances. This pain and suffering is a shared experience, rather for those that seek peace and love. I don’t want to talk politically or in an eloquent way of my disappointments over what is happening. I want to grief over the shortage of sympathy and love that is taking over the world as a whole. The only voice of representation for my oppressed people is this article that I am writing for them. They have no rights to voice their matters and concerns. In expenses of their freedom many lose their lives. Many are snatched out of their houses, their families or from the streets to be questioned of their ethnicity and later beaten, wounded, if lucky, or killed. A close family friend that underwent this torturous experience explains the moments as life and death situation. Left with emotional and physical scars, protesters still demand change, out in the battle ground of hell. It is not a secret the prosperity of the nation is wiped out by the authorities. Every ounce of money collected in the name of extending highways and building fancy constructions is an income deposited towards corrupt leaders who only have completed grade school. These corrupt leaders have no basic understanding of politics or democracy, they have no intellectual intelligence for what they believe they do best. Money collected from big corporate governments and nations make it towards the bank accounts of corrupt leaders. As these leaders find prosperity by the blood and sweat that is not theirs. They send their children to the United States, build their businesses with the money that they did not earn in anyway. As the poor die of starvation and on the streets, the thieves prosper endlessly. The root of the problem here is endless, expanding on the truth makes reality laughable. It’s not because it’s funny, rather it’s because of how this foolishness sounds. With much accomplishment that is possible in this time period, the backwardness of the government has made Ethiopia the slowest growing country in the world. What now? War. Until the demands are met, no one is giving up. Until it gets pretty, it's going to get ugly. Unfortunately, there is no option for this cold tragedy. May the robbed freedom be replaced by endless justice.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
