Whether you just found plans 10 minutes ago or just remembered that you never actually got your costume together, here are some ideas for you. The party store may not be accessible, or maybe you are fully living out the "broke college kid" status, and all you're looking for is to be able to throw together a costume out of the clothes you have crammed under your bed. Here are a few ideas so that you can still go to that Halloween party without looking like a drag.
1. Netflix and chill
This is such a relevant costume for the "Netflix and chill" trend that's defined 2015. If you have a red t-shirt lying around, all you need is to print the Netflix logo and tape it to the front. Does it have writing on the front? No big deal. All you need is to flip it inside out or just print the logo bigger than what's printed on the shirt. It may look a little ratch, but once the lights go down, the only thing people will notice is how funny your costume is.
2. Max from "Where the Wild Things Are"
Throwing it back to everyone's childhood bedtime story, bring Max's character back to life this Halloween. All you need is a gray or white sweatsuit and some yellow construction paper for the crown. So what if there's "Assumption" written down the leg of your sweatpants? As long as you are a fierce little kid again, you'll own it. You could even write Max on your crown so people are more able to recognize what your costume represents.
3. Biker gang
If you want to roll up to a party fully squadded up, this is probably the easiest group costume. No matter what you have hiding underneath your bed in storage bins, you can makeshift this costume. Black leather jacket, black band tees, ripped jeans, or black skinny jeans... even bandannas are great. Time to trade in your favorite heels for rough combat boots and rock that red lipstick you always thought was too bright for public display. You're tough; you can do whatever you want.
4. Fangirl
We've all been in this position. Whether at our favorite concert, midnight premiere of our favorite movie series, or on line to see our favorite celebrity; there's been a point where we have fangirled hard. Dig out your favorite band tee, write your favorite character's initials all over you, or keep a copy of "Harry Potter" glued to your hands. Whenever you walk into a room, scream as if you just saw Justin Bieber shirtless. Smudge some mascara under your eyes to look like a Twihard exiting the theater after "Breaking Dawn" Part Two." Whatever you love, amplify your inner fangirl.
5. Frat guy
If you're feeling a little risky this Halloween, you could strive to complete the TFM model. Break out your chambray shirt or steal a button up from one of your guy friends. Rock a backwards hat and maybe even some mid-calves, and always remember the shades indoors to complete the look. While you're walking around, snag a red Solo cup and show your fellow bros you can be a great addition to their frat for the night.
I hope that these ideas have sparked some creativity to your limited closet. Although Halloween is fun for all age groups, Halloweekend is only an experience you get in college, so live up every minute of it. As long as you make it home safe and keep your clothes as stain-free as possible, I assure you that you'll come out of the weekend with great pictures and great memories with your best friends.
Stay spooky.
