As a Minnesota native who has spent 21 winters in the great state of Minnesota, I have experienced the good, the bad, and the ugly. Don’t get me wrong, Minnesota is a great place to be during the chilly months if you know how to dress, drive, and properly embrace "Minne snowta." Here is a synopsis of a classic Minnesota winter as told by “The Office.”
It’s halfway through December and the grounds are brown, muddy, and snow-free, you’re kind of pissed off as you’ve been dreaming of a white Christmas.
When the first snowfall FINALLY comes in, it feels like all is right in the world again. It’s about time, Mother Nature. Thank you for coming to your senses.

The first snowfall of the season is always a BIG
deal. Sometimes Minnesotans feel invincible in the snow and take it to a whole
new level. It’s kind of like placing a new puppy in the snow for the first
time.

This stage doesn’t last long and soon you’re so over it. You’re over the snowy Instagrams, people's overambitious driving skills in the slippery conditions, and your lack of stylish shoe options.
When February turns into March and -- SHOCKER -- another snowstorm comes sweeping through town, you feel like you’re about to lose it. Oh, by the way, it's negative 13 degrees outside, so really, nothing could be better!
Literally all you want is for that white sheet
to sink down into the grass and for flowers to start popping their heads out of
the ground. It’s a sad, sad time for Minnesotans.

Spring break comes around and all is peachy and wonderful because you get a full week to escape the tundra!

When you return to the homeland greeted by the slushy, muddy snow, you don’t care because you’re tan and rejuvenated from your trip.
You check the forecast and see a whopping 48
degrees in the forecast. HEAT WAVE, BABY!

It’s adios to the snow and hello to short shorts. Goodbye, winter, it’s been real. Although Minnesota winters can be tough, we stick it out and embrace our tolerance for the cold and show. By next year, we’re ready to take on the freezing temps and piles of snow again, thanks to good company, cozy fires, and lots and lots of hot coffee.
