Move-in is less than a week away: cue the stressful packing and happy dancing.

Welcome Back, Marquette Students. Milwaukee Missed You.

Let’s be honest...

Your summer had a lot of this:

This:

An overdose (if we dare say it) of this:

If you actually tried to be social maybe this:

And if you’re lucky (or not) a whole lot of this:

Well, get ready because here comes another amazing year in an incredible city. Admit it, that wet dog smell that runs through the air now seems like an invigorating perfume. No longer must you wistfully dream of walking down Wisconsin Ave. on one of the first days of fall with your earbuds in and your favorite song blaring from the phone in your pocket. And why? Because all of this is right around the corner. I bet you can already taste the Sobelman's burger, can't you?

This incredible next year is about to unfold in one of the most down-to-earth, gorgeous and inspiring cities in the Midwest. You have the opportunity to go to class, and after a 10-to-15-minute walk, or a short bus ride (bless the U-pass), you can be strolling along the shore of Lake Michigan. How crazy is that? And in case you’ve forgotten--MKE is known as the beer capital of the U.S., and is home to Miller, Pabst, and the like. Talk about an irrefutably fantastic college town. Third Ward, Brady Street, the Public Market, the Art Museum, Collectivo, and some of the best restaurants and eateries all lay at your fingertips.

When you step back and think about it, moving back in means so much more than just the act itself. The best part about going back to college is seeing all the faces that you had to spend an entire summer without. After all these months, you might even find yourself slung under a wave of nostalgia when you walk past that professor that you once cursed the name of. Your friends (who are pretty much family) are back with you. They are the ones that stick by your side through the everyday struggles of being a college student and support you through the best AND the worst. You’ve returned to your second home and everything seems right with the world. There’s so much hope for the beginning of the next great adventure.

There is nothing more beautiful than Gesu on a crisp winter morning as the snow floats down, and there is nothing more amplifying than the student body screaming like maniacs for our men out on the court. We are part of something bigger, something more beautiful and powerful than ourselves. There’s just something about Milwaukee, about Marquette, that feels like home. When I step into my residence hall, I feel community. When I walk down Wisconsin Ave., I feel a sense of pride and accomplishment. When I sit in the garden of Joan of Arc and take in the chapel’s incredible beauty, I feel peace. And when I look at the Marquette sign in front of the library, I feel like I’m on the brink of the next big thing.

Marquette feels like home, and love, and happiness and hope, all combined in a flood of emotions. And when you step on campus again, you’ll feel overwhelmed with excitement.

So get your ID ready to start all that swiping at the Brew and the library. Pack your mittens and a waterproof coat for a snowball fight during the first big storm. Start practicing your cheers and catch up on your basketball lingo.

It’s time, Marquette. It’s time to get back to being a college student. It’s time for fun. It’s time for learning a whole lot of stuff that’s either completely relevant to your career, or not in the slightest, depending on what day of the week it is. It’s time to discover your potential and push yourself beyond your limits. It’s time. It’s time to go back home. And Milwaukee is calling your name.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
