Rupi Kaur's book of poems is divided into four parts: the hurting, the loving, the breaking and the healing. If I had to sum up the book into word one, I wouldn't be able to. I would just implore you to take an hour of your time and read through it yourself. There are a few of my favorite excerpts from my favorite poems of the book; however, these sentences don't begin to explain the emotion within the pages of this book.

1. like the sky / my beloved is everywhere / but next to me

2. stay / i whispered / as you / shut the door behind you

3. our backs / tell stories / that no book / has the spine to carry

4. she was music / but he had his ears cut off

5. he didn't call me / beautiful first / he called me / exquisite /

8. you threw me / so far away from myself / i've been trying to / find my way back / ever since

9. do not look for healing / at the feet of those / who broke you

10. i want to be so complete / i could light a whole city

Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
