It's easy to forget that college isn't all fun and games... that is, until you hear the first student on campus utter the dreadful phrase, "midterms week." This phrase immediately transforms into a dark cloud looming over every student as they prepare for their upcoming battle against time and content. The seasonal contestants and judges on "America's Next Top Model" represent many emotions that students feel during midterms, because at the end of the day, both the models and the students are trying to end up "on top."

When you're freaking out about your first exam and the same person keeps getting your study group sidetracked.

When you see a library worker walking in with a cart of free coffee and donuts.

When you pull an all-nighter to work on a presentation, but your brain is too fried to make any sense while presenting it.

When you give yourself a pep talk before your first exam.

When you're flipping through the test and questions that were on the study guide are nowhere to be found.

When your friends start comparing answers after the exam, and none of yours match.

The moment of self doubt as you re-start the studying cycle for exam number two, which ultimately ends up in you rethinking your choice of major

When your TAs retaliate with disappointment after grading the paper you started, finished and turned in the night before it was due.

Amid studying, you consider fake fainting like Tyra in order to get out of your last exam.

When the week comes to a close, you anxiously await grades to come in, expecting to fail, but are somehow blessed with passing grades.

At the end of the day, the lesson that we learn is that the more work you put in, the the more likely you are to succeed. This goes for not only the models, but for the students tackling their exams, papers and presentations during midterms week. So for the next time you encounter a week chock full of midterms, remember the time management, drive and perseverance needed when you ask yourself:

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
