Do you love baking but your only appliance is a micro fridge? Are you a dessert aficionado who's disappointed with your dining hall's desserts? Do you want me to stop asking rhetorical questions and get to my point?

If you're still reading that means you likely answered yes to all of these questions and you want to know: what can I bake in a dorm room? Though a micro fridge be but little, it is a fierce appliance that can make some surprisingly savory treats.

1. Banana Nutella Ice Cream

If a banana stolen from the dining hall and a jar of Nutella is all you have, then you have all you need for this extremely simple recipe. Take a banana (or two) and mash in a bowl with a fork until creamy. Add your desired amount of Nutella and mix. (Optional: add hot cocoa powder for an extra chocolatey flavor). Freeze overnight.

2. Chocolate Fudge

Another simple recipe for chocolate lovers: chocolate fudge! It's easy (and cheap!) to make.

1.5 cups of chocolate chips

7 oz (half can) sweetened condensed milk

3/4 teaspoon of vanilla

Melt those chocolate chips in a microwaveable bowl, add sweetened condensed milk and vanilla. Stir. Microwave until well mixed. For best results, pour into a tin baking pan (80 cents for two at Walmart!) for a thin layer of fudge. Refrigerate overnight.

3. Runner's Balls

Runner's Balls are a great snack whether you're a runner or not. This recipe requires a few more ingredients than the previous ones, but its prep is easy (but a little messy!) and it does not require baking.

Dry oatmeal mix

Peanut butter

Chocolate chips

Flaxseed

Honey

Start with a good cup or so of dry oatmeal and add peanut butter and flaxseed until you get a doughy consistency. (Yes, it's easiest to mix it with your hands like play doh) Add honey so it doesn't get too dry. Mix in chocolate chips. Roll into balls. Refrigerator for 1-2 hours.

4. Chocolate Muffin

Who knew you could bake a muffin in a microwave? It's the perfect breakfast (to make the night before) if you're always on-the-go. Even better- most of the ingredients you can get from your dining hall.

1 tbs Ground Flaxseed (which you should have leftover from those runner's balls!)

â…“ cup Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk (but regular milk should work similarly)

¼ cup Unsweetened Applesauce

4 packets Natural Sweetener

â…› tsp Salt

15g (3 tbs) Unsweetened Natural Cocoa Powder (hot cocoa mix if you want it really sweet (and if you don't want to pay for cocoa powder))

45g (6 tbs) Oat Flour

1 tsp Double-Acting Baking Powder

In the small bowl you'll be microwaving your muffin in (a small mug/mason jar will do), mix together all the wet ingredients. Then the dry. Microwave for about 4(+) minutes, or until the muffin is fluffy and muffin-esque.

5. Brownies

Say hello to your next best $2 investment. The Rapid Brownie Baker is an all in one microwaveable brownie maker. All you need is:

Any brownie mix of your choice (but let's be real, Betty Crocker fudge brownies reign supreme)

One egg

Oil

Water

The rest is simple- the Rapid Brownie Baker comes with a mixing box for you to pour the ingredients into. Add to the main microwaveable bowl and mix. Microwave for six minutes (even though it says four) and keep microwaving on minute intervals until the middle is cooked.

You can buy a Rapid Brownie Baker for $2 here.

6. Banana Churros

Churros?! Yep. Churros. Well, banana churros. With only 3 ingredients, this is a piece of cake to make.

1 banana (or more!)

1 tbsp. of coconut oil

Cinnamon sugar (okay, maybe four ingredients)

Chocolate (optional)

Get that coconut oil on a thin tray and microwave it until it's sizzling hot. Meanwhile, chop up some bananas and plop them into the coconut oil (while hot) and roll around. Coat in a layer of cinnamon sugar. Optional: melt chocolate to pour on top to officially become a dorm room baking God/Goddess.

7. Cookies and Cream Bark

With a 1 minute and 20 second total cooking time, this might be the fastest dessert in this list.

1 cup of white chocolate chips, melted

1/8 cup of crushed Oreos

1/4 cup of chocolate chips

A few whole Oreo tops

Mix together melted white chocolate chips and crushed Oreos. Place Oreo tops on top. Melt chocolate chips and drizzle on top. Pour into tin pan (Remember you used one pan for your fudge- use the other for this!) Refrigerate overnight.

As a baker and dessert lover myself, I could go on. Your micro fridge is more powerful than you might think - so get baking!

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
