In today’s day and age, relationships are portrayed as almost mandatory. Girls are told to be strong and independent yet still have this vulnerability for men. While some people may enjoy living like that, I on the other hand, think this is a load of crap. Girls get in relationships and can’t wait to post a #mcm on Instagram and flaunt their boyfriend to all of their friends. While this may seem like I’m just some bitter single girl writing an article hating on relationships, that’s not fully true.

I’m single, yes, but bitter, absolutely not. I have been on the other side of the fence. The girlfriend who was ecstatic to post Instagram pictures, sit through lacrosse games on the weekends and show my boyfriend off to all of my friends. While there is nothing wrong with this I feel that so many girls lose sight of what’s truly important and that’s your #wcw.

Girls' boyfriends can be great, don’t get me wrong, but at the end of the day, it’s your girlfriends you should really value most. They are constantly there for you through fights, breakups and to help you enhance the terrible decisions you normally make. Being single is something that’s frowned upon and I just don’t get it. There is nothing better than a night out with the girls. You spend your time worrying about having fun and being an idiot rather than making sure you and your boyfriend are happy. Your friends support you in everything you do and yes I know a boyfriend can do that too, but your girlfriends have no problem being blatantly honest if it means ensuring your happiness. This isn’t an article shaming boyfriends but rather giving a shout out to the stability in our lives.

Ladies, I want you to realize how much your #wcw rock! They are always down for a great time with no questions asked. Wine night and binge watching Netflix, don’t worry they’ll be there. When you want to go to the gym after a night out, they’re down. Spontaneous mall trips that normally involve spending more money then you have, they will absolutely be there. So ladies thank your girlfriends because they are your ride or dies until the end!

Getting caught up in a relationship can be very easy to do, we all will fall victim to it at one point or another but a big shout out to the people who are there no matter what.
