A True "Knight in Shining Whatever."

A "McDreamy" We Should All Love
Hello Giggles

No man or woman is perfect, we all know that. But I think we can all admit that we have created an image in our minds for who we want to spend the rest of our lives with. It’s a shame that too many people settle after losing sight of this over time, and forgetting their “McDreamy.” That’s right, I’m alluding to Dr. McDreamy.. ehh emm, I mean, Dr. Derek Sheperd from Grey’s Anatomy. If you’ve ever seen just an episode, or fully transformed into an obsessed fan-girl like me, you know he is someone we can all, and should, fall in love with. Here are 8 moments where McDreamy changed our standards of love and romance.

1. “You used to be so dark and twisty, and now you’re optimistic.”

One of the greatest qualities in a person is to stick through the good times, as well as the bad times. You can’t have a relationship just based on the good days.

2. “Whatever happens, happens. Me and you. Okay?”

He doesn’t care about the outside factors. He wants life to be simple, just you and him.

3. “I’m a human being. I make mistakes. I’m flawed, we all are.”

Unlike a lot of people in the world, McDreamy will admit that he isn’t perfect. Regardless, he will still be perfect for you because he is honest.

4. “Some days I miss her so much I don’t know if I’m gonna make it.”

Again, being honest and open. A true McDreamy will need you. You will be a piece of him that he will always need after you walk into his life.

5. “You deserve to be with somebody who makes you happy. Somebody who’s not gonna complicate your life. Somebody who won’t hurt you.”

We all know this deep down, but most of us are too afraid to admit it. When you finally find the right person, he or she will admit it for you; and he or she will do everything to be just that.

6. “I am your knight in shining whatever.”

Of course, what we all want. A knight in shining armor. Maybe a little cocky, sure. But what person isn’t sometimes. Like he said before, we are all flawed.

7. “You were like coming up for fresh air. It’s like I was drowning and you saved me. That’s all I know.”

Quite simply one of the best lines we ever heard from Dr. McDreamy. How could anyone want to be anything more than “fresh air”? There really is nothing better.

8. “I wanna marry you. I wanna have kids with you. I want to build a house. I wanna settle down and grow old with you. I wanna die when I'm 110 years old, in your arms. I don't want 48 uninterrupted hours. I want a lifetime.”

Lastly, find someone who says this to you without being prompted. Someone who says all this when you’re not even really dating. Find someone who would be willing to wait for you, and would be just as in love with you while waiting as they would be if they were with you.

There have been many princes and love stories that have made our hearts melt over time, but McDreamy will forever be the greatest. Remember, don’t settle for anything less than your McDreamy.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
