In the past few years, there has been an explosion of Marvel Comic movies being produced. "Iron Man" kicked off the storm in 2008, and the most recent movie to come out is "Ant-Man." Not only have they started to expand to TV, but they have movies planned through July 2019.
Personally, I am a huge fan of the Marvel franchise. Ever since I read the "Spider-Man" comics when I was younger, I have always loved the idea of superheroes. I have seen almost all these movies multiple times, and I just finished watching the first season of Marvel's "Agents of Shield" TV series. The only Marvel-produced show I have not yet seen is "Agent Carter."
In my opinion, the most underrated Marvel production is "Daredevil." It is found only on Netflix, and it is a really intense show. I found the main character, Matt Murdock, fascinating in the way he uses his abilities. His back story was also interesting, and I felt that the show was directed well.
My favorite movie has to be "Guardians of the Galaxy," which was a surprise, because I had never heard of it before, as I had with the other movies. Not only is Chris Pratt's acting amazing, but the constant flip between humor and solemnity was done incredibly well. "Guardians" was a surprise box office hit, setting records its opening weekend and then continuing to set records all the way through August.
The movie which everyone knew was going to be a box office hit, and then which fulfilled this prediction, was "Avengers: Age of Ultron." The epic movie did incredibly well–it had the second biggest opening in history and pushed the Marvel franchise on top of the "Harry Potter" franchise to become the most successful film franchise in the world.
This is a huge deal, considering how large the fan base behind the "Harry Potter" franchise is (although Marvel has produced more films than Harry Potter did).
The most exciting part about this franchise is not how successful it has been, but how many more movies it plans on releasing. They have at least two new movies coming out each year for the next four years. This includes sequels to "Guardians of the Galaxy," "The Avengers," "Thor," and "Captain America." They are also going to come out with all new movies and superheroes. I cannot wait to see how these movies are created and if they continue to be as successful.
