March Madness From The Perspective Of Someone With A Broken Bracket

If we're being real here, I don't know a thing about college basketball.

I don't even know why I get involved in March Madness; if we're being real here, I don't know a thing about college basketball. When my family made a group on ESPN and said the winner would get money, I figured I might as well participate.

Believe or not, I actually have a chance of having the best bracket of the group. That doesn't necessarily mean I made an awesome bracket - really I might just be the best of the worst. Here are some GIFs to show y'all the ups and downs my bracket has faced so far.

1. When you're making your bracket and haven't heard of half the teams.

I have at least heard of the ACC teams...

2. When I auto-filled my bracket to choose the higher seed in every game and hoped for the best.

I thought I had a pretty good strategy of picking the higher seed to win almost every game. Sounds logical, right?

3. When I switched it up and picked Loyola-Chicago to beat Miami and they actually did.

I didn't want to pick the higher seed to win EVERY game, so I switched it up a bit here and there. I was pleasantly surprised when Loyola-Chicago, the 11th seed, beat Miami, 6th seed. Also, it didn't hurt that the majority of my family members picked Miami.

4. When UVA lost by 20 points to UMBC.

A #1 seed beating a #16 seed? When does that ever happen? NEVER. UVA losing was the beginning of my bracket's downhill spiral.

5. When NC State let me down once again.

I'm an NC State fan and with being an NC State fan, I am inevitably going to be let down. Now I know to pick who I think will win, not who I want to win.

6. When Michigan State lost to Syracuse.

I had not watched a single Michigan State basketball game all season when I chose them over Syracuse, but a girl can assume a 3 seed would beat an 11 seed, right? Wrong.

7. When UNC lost to Texas A&M.

I had UNC going to the Final 4, so their loss REALLY hurt my bracket. My fault for thinking last year's national champs would make it a bit further.

8. When I only had 1 correct team in the Elite 8.

You read that right; I only had one correct team in the Elite 8, Villanova. I felt pretty defeated at that point, but to be honest I never had high expectations for my bracket. At that point, I was in last place in my family's group.

9. When Loyola-Chicago made it to the Final 4.

I wish I could be one of those people who somehow chose Loyola-Chicago, an 11 seed, to make it to the Final 4. How do people predict this stuff?

10. When Duke lost to Kansas!

I have nothing against Duke and nothing for Kansas, but everyone in my bracket's group had Duke advancing to the Final 4. While Duke's loss was detrimental to their brackets, it didn't affect mine in the slightest!

11. When my fate laid in the hands of Villanova.

Before Villanova's Final 4 game, my bracket had 430 points (I know that's pitiful) with 480 possible points remaining. Everyone else in my bracket's group had more points than me, but they didn't have any possible points remaining. When Villanova beat Kansas, my bracket got 160 points, making me the winner of my group with 590 points!

To be honest, I have no business participating in March Madness, but my bracket won me money! If Villanova wins tonight, that means I chose the champion from the beginning AND my bracket gets 320 more points. Whether your bracket was a disaster or if you have a team advancing to the championship tonight, I hope you have enjoyed this month of basketball madness!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
