10 Things You Can Do While Quarantined Now That You Have The Time

You don't have an excuse anymore for not cleaning your room or doing that one thing you always say you will do, that school or work always gets in the way of.

Now that you have all the time in the world being isolated in your house, here are some ideas of things you can do now while you have the extra time.

1. Binge-watch shows without feeling guilty.

All you have is time now. No need to pause your episode to go to school or work.

2. Clean your room.

Get rid of all those water bottles you hoard in your room, sort out clothes you don't wear anymore, and make it into an organized space.

3. Mess around with makeup.

Now you have the time to see what makeup products you like and what looks good on you.

4. Delete old photos and emails.

You know you have so many taking up valuable space on your phone and computer. It'll be fun to sit and go through old memories and trash all those candid blurry photos.

Why have thousands of emails from random companies and old teachers that you no longer have? It's a waste of space, and you'll feel so accomplished when you see that you have less than 100 emails in your inbox.

5. Exercise.

While you can't use the gyms as of right now, there are plenty of things you can do in your house and backyard. If you own any type of exercise equipment, perfect. If not, go on YouTube and search workout videos that you can do in your own house without equipment.

If nothing else, go in your backyard or around your block and go for a run. You can't say that work and school get in the way of living a healthy lifestyle anymore.

6. Spring cleaning.

It's almost springtime anyway, so go through your house and get rid of those things you haven't touched in over a decade. This is a perfect opportunity to not only get rid of items, but also clean your bathroom, clean and wash your car, and wipe everything down.

There's nothing better than having a clean car and a clean house.

7. Read/journal.

You're always complaining about how you never have the time or energy to sit back and relax with a book or just write. Go outside in your backyard on a nice day, pick up a book or bring your journal, and just read and write.

This is especially good for those who don't want to sit around and watch TV all day.

8. Give all of your attention to your pets.

They are constantly watching us get up every day and leaving them for school or work. Now we have the chance to do our work with them right beside us. That's all we've ever wanted.

9. Learn something new.

Ever feel like you wanted to learn how to do something new but you just never had the time? As long as it is something you can do in your house, this is a great time to do that.

Maybe you bought a guitar and never learned how to play it. Maybe you are trying to learn how to cook. Now you can attempt to do those things.

10. Spend time with your family.

Whoever you are quarantined with, this is a great time to be with them because you most likely don't always get this chance.

Now you play games with them or watch movies together. Do activities together. Whatever you do, do it all together.

Even if you are all doing homework or working on something, do it all in the same room. This unique situation has given all of us the chance to really sit down, relax, and be with our loved ones.

Even though all of this has been stressful, at least this situation has given us that.

Whatever you decide to do while quarantined, make sure you make the most of it or else you will just be doing nothing and get bored. Try something new, catch up on homework, clean your room, spend time with your family and pets, or just use this time to decompress and relax for once in your life.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
