Dear Future Hubby,

Right now, I’m 18 years old, a freshman in college, and with all the talk of the future, I can’t keep my mind off of what it’ll be like when I finally meet, and eventually, marry you. If I marry you, I must really love you with every part of me, and even though marriage isn’t supposed to be easy, spending the rest of my life with my best friend really will be the greatest gift God can give me.

So, as I’m sitting in my dorm room and thinking about forever, here are some values I hold close to my heart which will point me to you.

I’ll want to marry you because…

  1. You fully love and trust God and pursue Him with me.
  2. You love others well and have a generous heart.
  3. You show me unconditional love.
  4. You serve others and live to serve God.
  5. You will love our family and never let me doubt you.
  6. Your face will light up every time I walk into a room.
  7. You enjoy adventures and making memories with me to last a lifetime.
  8. You accept everyone for who they are, especially every part of me.
  9. You are a gentle soul and show how much you respect all women and me.
  10. You are patient, kind, protecting, nurturing, trusting, and never failing.
  11. You aren’t envious, boastful, or proud.
  12. You aren’t self-seeking, out to dishonor others, easily angered, or a keeper of wrongs.
  13. You support all of my dreams and aspirations.
  14. You lead me closer to God.
  15. You respect my choice to wait until marriage and share that same value for yourself.
  16. You make me laugh everyday and always know how to make me smile.
  17. You pray with me, learn with me, and love me more than I’ll ever understand.
  18. You let me do all of these things for you also.
  19. You’ll also think I’m the funniest person in the entire world.

So, Future Hubby, as I think about forever, I hope you know how grateful I will be when God finally gives me you. You will be the man that my father prayed I marry. You will show me every single day how much you love me and will allow me to do the same for you.

I can’t wait to spend this adventure with you, but for now as we grow into the people we are meant to be and who we will be when we finally meet, I hope you know how much I am already so happy to know that you’re out there.
