Summer is an awkward time if we're be. You're excited to be done with a year of school but the boredom kicks in quickly after a week of just staying home and sleeping. Summer is a short 2 or 3 months and you really should do everything you can to make the most of it.
Tour your own state.
Whether you tour famous food locations to beautiful landscapes to amusement parks, many states are filled with hidden beauties that everyone can find some enjoyment. Many states have a calendar that you can peruse to pencil in events happening in the months to come so you know ahead of time if you know you need to let your boss know in advance.
Learn a new hobby.
Treat the summer like a lost semester, not like a class that you need to graduate, but do something that you have always found interesting or inspiring. Take the next few months to accomplish learning a new hobby or skill that you enjoy. You can join a club, take a class locally, or even buy a book to teach you how. Did you know iTunes has something called iTunes U? iTunes U is free university lectures in one database. Youtube also has great tutorials to, so there's no excuse for not being able to teach yourself something that you've always wanted to be able to do.
Treat Yourself
Buy something you've always wanted, watch that full season of your new favorite show on Netflix, sleep in, take naps, pamper yourself and most of all enjoy your summer.
Ditch the TV
You can watch TV any time of the year. Enjoy your summer and go outside, enjoy the things you couldn't when spending 5 hours a day in the library. Go make new friends or get sporty with the friends you already have
Reconnect with old friends.
Remember those friends you had in high school? The same friends you haven't talked to since high school? You may feel like you've changed a lot since college, but they probably feel that same way too. There is a possibility that you can develop a friendship with an old friend stronger than the friendship you had before.
Get In Shape.
Some of us didn't have great eating habits when entering college. I relied on the fact that in high school I was a varsity athlete and was in great shape going into college. Turns out that relying on something and not continuing to work out and eating healthy will really show after a semester in college. Take the summer and start a workout regime, grab a fitness buddy if you need extra motivation and always go to the gym even if you don't feel like it.
Summer isn't about stressing yourself to the brink of insanity like finals week. Summer is about spending a day by the pool with your friends and taking road trips with your best friend. Mix scheduling with spontaneity, obviously you want to schedule the bigger events but don't be afraid to decide one morning you want to drive to the lake and lay out with some friends.
P.S. keep a calendar to make sure your events stay scheduled and organized.
