Traveling has been a way of life, a change of pace, and a new beginning for many people. Many take the plunge to travel to learn about the culture, to find themselves, and to broaden their horizons. Some do it for the Instagram post, to check it off their bucket list, or to have a mini-vacation.
Whatever reason it may be, traveling is something that makes you feel more alive. It helps you get away from reality and sometimes make you realize what you want in life. We all travel in different styles, and if you are new to traveling, here are just a few things you will hear throughout your travel experience. In the end, you will decide how you want to travel and what is more important in your life as you go about your travel experiences.
Young traveler vs adult traveler
Many will tell you to wait to travel until you are older. That while you are young you need to plan your life out and settle down. Work, work, work, and then decide when and where you want to travel.
Personally, I do not find this appealing. Travel while you are young because there are no strings attached. Experience the unthinkable while you are young. Be adventurous and don't hold back. You're not getting any younger, but you are getting older.
Of course, work, it is a necessity to survive and to travel, but while you are young is a perfect time to travel since you are just starting out. Your body is able and you are more likely to take on that more adventurous route than when you get older. Who knows, maybe while traveling you will find a place you absolutely love and want to move to once you retire?!
Winging it vs Diligent planning
There are people who need a diligent itinerary for their travels down to the exact time. Sometimes this is a good way of planning your travels, but remember when traveling it's nice to have some flexibility in your schedule. There are just some things you can't plan out, and your itinerary is not always going to go as planned.
So, be sure when traveling to be accepting of the fact that things do not always go as planned. The more you come to peace with this, the less stressed you will be as you travel. In all honesty and out of personal experience, my best memories of traveling have been when I have gone off the grid from the so-called "plan" and ventured off to a different path.
Small budget vs larger budget
Budgets are something of great importance to plan out and have when you are traveling. This is regardless of if you are traveling luxuriously or not.
There are pros and cons to both small budgets and large budgets. Having a large budget makes you feel more relaxed when you are traveling. You can enjoy the luxury of the places you visit and never have to worry about money running out, of course.
The problem with a large budget at times is that when you go just for the luxurious styles, at times you will miss out on the culture and the true lifestyle of the community.
Being on a smaller budget, you have the opportunity to live the local life, explore the cheaper and more regular activities that a local would explore on the daily, and you would budget for food, making it so you would go to the market to buy food to prepare yourself rather than a luxurious dish at a restaurant.
The problem with a small budget is that at times things get tight and you may run into restaurants and activities that you would love to go to, but the budget can not afford it.
Overall, it is the preference of how you like to travel, what experiences you are looking for, and what you are able to budget for. Personally, whether you choose to travel one way or another, I believe traveling, in general, is something everyone should do.
Get out and explore the world. We are not made to stay in one place, we are not rooted to the ground, the world is ever-changing, and there is so much to learn and explore.
Be adventurous, be bold, and take the chance.
