Okay, don't freak out but 2017 is ending at a rapid pace!

Christmas is around the corner, and you're probably worried about what the new year holds for you. Well, because the new year is almost here, that typically means it's a time to start over, right? 2018 is a brand new year full of fresh opportunities, new friendships, potential jobs, brand-new experiences, and so much more.

Leave all that stupid negativity that brought you down in 2017 in the past, because whatever happened a year ago doesn’t matter anymore. You have an opportunity to create a name for yourself. A chance to be the person you've always dreamed of being.

The possibility of changing your life for the better, so ask yourself this one question: why wait to start your life when you can start now?

This is your fresh start.

Yes, I know starting over isn't easy, and I think a lot of anxiety starts to occur when you consider change. But this will be a good change! It's about bettering yourself.

What’s the worst that could happen? Do you find yourself falling down? Stand back up. Not doing so well in school? Study harder. Are your friendships crumbling?

Communicate your concerns and be open to resolutions. It's time to finally be the best version of yourself you can be. Build up strong relationships, ask for that promotion, volunteer for a better cause, make your voice be heard. 2018 is the time for a better world with a sense of self-empowerment. Be proud of what you are here to represent!

Take the example, Elle Woods ^ up here. Although a fictional character, she represents a strong and inspiring young woman who re-marketed herself totally. She rewired her focus, channeled her inner bad-ass, and rose up like a freaking phoenix to prove she wasn't just some dumb blonde in a sorority. Instead of whimpering down into a sad pathetic version of a little girl who just got dumped; she stood up for herself and proved herself (and others) wrong. She took the initiative to challenge herself until she created a better life.

We could all take a few lessons from Legally Blonde (in case you've never actually watched the movie, that is)

Starting a new year with a brand new perspective will without a doubt, change your outlook for the better. Choose happiness in the new year. Allow yourself to take risks. Dare to be different. 2018 is the year to write a new chapter. It's up to you to turn the page and sharpen your pencil. No matter what happens, be confident that you tried in the first place.

Trust the process, you got this.

HAPPY NEW YOU!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
