MadiTHON: For The Kids

Do you want to make a difference For The Kids of your community? Are you looking for a fun and rewarding way to be the change? Well, my friend, I have two words for you: Dance Marathon.

&amp;amp;amp;lt;span id="selection-marker-1" class="redactor-selection-marker" data-verified="redactor"&amp;amp;amp;gt;&amp;amp;amp;lt;/span&amp;amp;amp;gt;

Dance Marathons are becoming a popular fundraising event among high schools, colleges, and universities throughout the country. What is a Dance Marathon, you ask? A Dance Marathon is an event where everyone dances for those who can’t. The goal of a Dance Marathon is to remain standing and keep the party going. Dance Marathons are an effective and fun way to give back to your local community. For the Kids, better known as FTK, is a phrase used throughout the country to show why we dance.

Here at James Madison University, we dance For The Kids by participating in MadiTHON, a Dance Marathon hosted by Phi Mu and Sigma Phi Epsilon that is open to all of JMU students. When MadiTHON was founded in 2014, JMU raised over $70,000 FTK and broke records for the most money raised at a first Dance Marathon. All of the funds are directly donated to our local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital: the University of Virginia Children’s Hospital. Miracle Network Dance Marathons are nationally recognized for fundraising for pediatric hospitals in order to provide the best care for their patients.

MadiTHON will be taking place for the third year on Saturday, February 20, 2016, in the brand new UREC. Our goal is to raise $100,000 For The Kids at UVA Children’s Hospital. Many JMU clubs and organizations will be participating in the event, including Madison Dance and Club Cheerleading, who will be performing at MadiTHON.
