We Need To Talk About The Madden 19 Tournament Shooting

There seems to be a misunderstanding about the situation.

Sadly, America has witnessed another shooting, and it has made national headlines. On Sunday, August 26th, 24-year-old David Katz opened fire at A video game tournament in Florida. It is reported that there were two fatalities, and up to 13 people injured. Many news outlets claim that the cause is still unknown. Since this shooting happened in the video game world, there seems to be a different argument being made. There are articles and posts all over the internet blaming video games for being too violent, which then caused this nut to murder people. I'm here to set things straight. Do not listen to people and their agendas, many people post things to make you think a certain way, so don't let people make you think games are the cause of shootings.

To begin, we must talk about the situation itself. While there has been no evidence for why he did it, there is speculation. Katz was one of the best Madden 19 players in the world. He traveled to Florida to compete in this tournament, and he lost early. He then left the tournament, picked up two weapons with extra ammunition, and shot and killed people at the same tournament. Knowing what we know now, there is an argument to be made that he did this because he lost the tournament. Personally, this is something I can believe. Some people have serious anger issues, and I know how gamers can act, because I've been playing games for years. Gamers tend to get really angry over a video game because they put so much time and effort into it. While I understand this can be an explanation, it still isn't acceptable. To get that mad over a video game, that you want to take the lives of the people you lost to, is sick. No rational human being thinks like that, so this son of a bitch must have had an anger issue. The video game itself was not what made him go nuts, it was the fact that he lost. Video games being too "violent" is an absurd explanation for shootings. Madden 19 isn't violent, and if it were, real NFL players would act like this whenever they lost.

Another thing I'd like to address is the video going around about the shooting. There is a video of the two murdered victims, seconds before their lives were taken, playing Madden 19. There are a bunch of conspiracy theories about these two individuals and how they plotted all of this, and I must ask all of those that believe this nonsense to stop. Two innocent lives were lost, and one of the people murdered had a child. They were real human beings, who had their lives taken way to early. It is completely disrespectful to make up bull shit about two innocent lives being lost. Please respect their lives and keep to yourself. Fake news can be a horrible thing, and cloud people's judgment. I simply ask that you keep politics and judgment aside and mourn the deaths of these two young people.

I've been playing all types of video games my whole life. Not once, has it secretly influenced me to become violent. Rational human beings can decipher what is right and wrong, and people who are willing to murder other people are not rational. they clearly have some underlying issue that was never solved. The shooter, in this case, killed himself after the shooting, so there is no true way to tell if he was mentally ill. If I had to put my money down, I'd bet that he had an issue. Video games do not cause people to become psychotic. They are either born that way or have something very wrong with them. These people need to be treated carefully, or else things like this will happen again. If there is any suspicion that someone could be capable of such heinous crimes, contact 911 immediately

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
