We all look for inspiration in different places. Meaningful words or lessons could be found in a book, song or just in a friend. I find my inspiration through music; it's my mood medicine and my happy place. When you sing every lyric without mistake, play all of their songs in the car and sneak into one of their concerts, you know you've found your favorite band. Mumford and Sons, for me, is like wearing my favorite sweater or hugging an old friend. In their lyrics is where I find my inspiration. I believe the world should hear what they have to say. May you find your inspiration in a wonderful place.
“Plant your hope with good seeds. Don’t cover yourself with thistles and weeds.”
-Thistles and Weeds
Good seeds come in the form of positive influences like persistence, positivity and faith. When you plant good seeds, you can be confident that your future will blossom right in front of you. Beware of thistles and weeds. These can often come in the form of distractions, addictions or anything designed to block the path in which you wish to travel. Stomp them into the ground and carry on. Choosing positivity is an option we all have, we might as well help ourselves out.
“I will learn to love the skies I’m under.”
-Hopeless Wanderer
Just like we can’t control when it will pour rain or when the sun will shine, we can’t control what life will do to us. Sometimes there will be stars and the moon to guide our path in the dark, and other times we will be lost. Sometimes the wind will knock us off of our feet and other times it will be there to gently nudge us along, offering support. What we can control is how we choose to react. We only get a single chance at each day. Whether the sky you’re under is sunny and pleasant or bleak and somber, find something to love.
“Get over your hill and see what you find there, with grace in your heart and flowers in your hair.”
-After the Storm
Everyone’s ‘hill’ looks different. Everyone has their own mountains to move. There will be cliffs to climb and chasms to jump, but press on until you reach the other side. It might be the greatest challenge you’ve ever faced. It might scare you to death. It might take a lifetime, but it will be worth it. May you emerge with a changed heart, and let each flower in your hair be a beautiful lesson you picked up along the way.
