Lust and love are often confused as being the same, but they are not the same. Each one has distinct feelings that make them different from one another. Love involves adoration and giving affection. Lust involves sexual appetite. Both of them are very unique in meaning. The differences between lust and love outweigh the similarities.
Love is a combination of deep emotions that you feel towards a significant other. These deep emotions you feel may consist of appreciation, infatuation and affection. A physical attraction isn't important. For example, the love between a couple is magical. You can look into your partner's eyes and instantly go into a trance, where your hearts beat the same rhythm. The excitement between you and your significant other will never fade. My grandma and grandpa have been together for over 50 years; if my grandma were to die suddenly, then I know she would want to go to wherever my grandpa is resting, meaning heaven, hell or purgatory. Lust, though, is the complete opposite.
Lust is an intense, temporary sexual hunger for another person based on physical attraction. It is commonly used to fill some void; the void may be loneliness or the need for sexual release. Once the longing is met, you will be left feeling empty because this quick fix didn't fix your problem. A good example would be two lonely people having a one night stand. Two people spend one night together and have "special" relations. They thought their actions would fix their loneliness. However, once the next day came, these two people were lonely again; their short lived excitement from each other's bodies did not fix anything.
Love and lust do have some similarities among all of the differences. Love and lust are powerful feelings that both invoke other feelings and only affect humans; loving someone and lusting after someone can both be very exciting. Lust and love can be hurtful; for example, if you love another person and that person doesn't reciprocate, then you will have your feelings hurt. The constant lusting after another person when they don't stay around will keep hurting you.
Love is described as a magical connection between two hearts and minds that can last forever. Lust is an intense physical attraction between two people and is short in comparison to love. Both are quite complex concepts that can cause major effects to you. Lust and love will always have more differences than similarities to each other.
