You Don't Know How Lucky You Are To Have A Sister

She may be annoying, but she's your biological best friend.

Sisters

As someone with a sister, I can support the fact that yes, they can be irritating (especially if you're dealing with a younger sister.) But the more time I've spent with my sister, the more I began to realize that this isn't always the case. She has her moments where she can make me laugh with her jokes, bring me snacks when I'm hungry, and even be a shoulder to cry on and ears to listen when I'm having occasional rough days. She has her little moments that make me extremely grateful to have her in my life and help me tolerate her future shenanigans.

Like all human-to-human interactions, sibling relationships vary wildly. They may constantly test your patience, be your biggest ally against your parents, or even both, depending on their mood. But overall, a sister is the best gift your parents can give you. Here's why.

She's your guaranteed supporter and has unconditional faith in you

Whether you have a close bond with your sister or not, she'll always be your own personal cheerleader. When great things happen to you, such as getting into your dream college, winning a competition, etc., they will always be excited about your successes, and proud to have you as a sibling to look up to, even if they don't want to admit it.

You won't feel alone

While siblings can live different lives from each other, they are still growing up in the same environment throughout their childhood and may share the same experiences. Sisters can psychologically and emotionally help each other heal through rough patches in family situations, knowing that they are both going through the same hardship. It's a comforting feeling to know that someone else is right with you, understanding your pain/stress. This increases the bond and love for one another and helps them realize they will always have someone to turn to throughout their entire life for support.

Someone to talk to and hang out with

A sister is a natural confidant like no other. You can really talk or even rant to her about anything; school, relationship/friend drama, stress, etc. She is the only person who would listen to what her sibling has to say, whether it be during the middle of the day or 3:00 AM. As for hanging out, they're conveniently there for you when you wanna do something fun and need a companion, like going to the movies or a concert!

She's brutally honest

Sure, your best friends can be reliable for some honest input, too, but there's something about sisterly advice that seems much more real. Your sister is never afraid to give you unfiltered feedback. For example, when it comes to relationship complications, your friends may be great listeners and tell you they'll support you in whatever decision you decide to make. Your sister, however, will be there to straight up tell you what she finds ridiculous and let you know the harsh truth even when you don't want to hear it. It's because she's truly looking out for you and always wanting what's best for you.

Overall, the bond between you and your sister is life-long and unbreakable. As your sibling, she's one of the main people in your life who knows and understands you best. No matter what kind of relationship you guys have, it's always a good idea to reach out and check in on your sister from time to time, a small gesture to show your gratitude for her.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
